Author Douglas Murray reacts to a man chided for eating around people observing Ramadan.

In the clip shared by Based Paddy on X, a man pointed out the worker was “stuffing his face” while others observed Ramadan, causing the worker to put his lunch away.

“Everything that has grownup in the West on freedom of religion and freedom of thought is predicated on the idea that I can have my beliefs and you can have yours and we are part of the same society,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“The moment you change that pact and say actually I have my beliefs and therefore you cannot have yours, everything changes.

“And then it becomes effectively an intimidation game or a numbers game and that is obviously what was going on in that clip.”

Your religion doesn’t forbid me from eating, it forbids YOU.

This is religious intolerance by a muslim , and should be reported as a hate crime.

I'm tired of ppl trying to impose their religion on everyone else.

An acquaintance of mine was recently in Jordan for job reasons, right at the beginning of Ramadan. She as a Christian wasn't allowed to eat and drink during the day in public. She was allowed to eat, but only in the privacy of her hotel room. And now we have Muslims complaining in a Christan country that non Muslims are eating and drinking during the day during Ramadan.
  • He called him kaffir - that is a blatant insult and he should be reported for hate crime…..
  • @Tiabliaj1989
If you're fasting, why are you in the lunch room? Let the man enjoy his freaking lunch!

Calling anyone Kuffir is not being friendly or lighthearted. It is the language of the Islamists.

You'd never stop me from eating my dinner. Take your religion outside 👍🏻
  • @Rathkryn
Step 1: I need refugee status because I'm being persecuted in my home country! Step 2: You're not respecting my country's traditions and that's hate!!
  • @Tang0Fox1
Um...why should he stop eating becausd his coworkers are fasting? He is not of their religion.

Disgusting behavior and should be reported. Even the big stores are jumping in on this whole situation - I was in the big orange DIY store in Reading on Monday and the internal PA system made an announcement wishing us all a “safe and happy Ramadan” I didn’t hear another wishing us a “safe and happy Easter “ - what the hell is going on with this country? I was mortified and offended and have written via email to their head office to voice my concerns and as yet have had no response and will probably get a brush off reply if anything. This is Great Britain not Englandstan. 😡😡😡😡😡

"I'm eating and I don't follow your false religion. Go away. You're bothering me."
  • Fear of Islam shouldn't called islamophobia, it's should be called common sense.
  • @MrsHBuchner
The man should have continued eating his lunch and told his co-workers to either shut up or go away. Do not disturb me at my lunch break
  • @stretchy1260
I will not, have not and shall never be a slave to religion....PERIOD...!!!
  • @barryfrench2534
Worked in Saudi Arabia for almost a decade. There were no issues with us eating in the designated Lunch area during Ramadan because WE WEREN'T MUSLIMS.

The veil, the Ramadan, the prayers, the Hallal food... and so on. Once you authorize their mental conditioning in the society : it's over.
  • Its everywhere USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India you just name it and it doesnt count as a hate crime as per woke hypocrites.

People come to the West and then criticize everything about it.
