InABLE.org is a nonprofit in Kenya that focuses on bringing digital accessibility training and technology to schools for children with vision impairments. To advance this mission, Google provided funding for 480 Chromebooks to be used by students and teachers in school classrooms and a village library in 2023. The Chromebooks enable the students to hone their digital skills by accessing relevant applications such as Google Workspace for Education and Google Classroom due to the accessibility features built in. #InABLE #Chromebooks #Google

Chromebooks are so powerful! Touch-screen Chromebooks would really help!
  • This video is essentially an advertisement for inABLE, a non-profit organization providing Chromebooks to blind students in Kenya. While it highlights the positive impact of technology on visually impaired students, it glosses over the real challenges. They mention the difficulty of getting Braille books but fail to address how Chromebooks alone can't solve the systemic issues of accessibility. What about students who can't afford internet access or lack proper training to utilize these devices effectively? The video wants to make us feel good about technology's potential but avoids the hard questions about implementation and long-term support needed for sustainable change. It's easy to donate Chromebooks, but what are they not telling us about the ongoing challenges these students face?
