This is the story of my solo kayak circumnavigation of Eigg and Muck in Aug 2023
The small Isles, on the Scottish Highlands west coast are a classic UK sea kayaking destination.
Consisting of five Islands, Canna, Sanday, Rum, Eigg & Muck all of which have exposed rugged coast line, beautiful camping spots with amazing views.
These island are fully exposed to weather systems and have strong tides around the points and between the islands, so careful planning and settled weather are required for a successful trip
This was my second trip to the small isles in 2023, check out my previous video for Rum, Canna and Sanday circumnavigation

2:00 Day one, prep and ferry crossing from Mallaig to Eigg
5:00 Day one, paddle from Eigg to Muck & camp on muck
12:40 Day two, paddle round Muck cross back over to Eigg and camp

  • Thank you for taking me on this amazing trip. 😊 I'm a much less experienced paddler so expeditions like this are out of my reach (at least for now). πŸ˜…

Bob, really enjoyed your Small Isles videos. I would be interested to know more about how you film, particularly on the water, as the images are coming out great. My wife and I have been paddling for just a few years now, so hope to do this trip eventually. Thanks Adrian

So glad I came across your channel! I'm working my way through all your videos and enjoying them tremendously. I live in Eastern Connecticut, USA and have kayaked most of my life at a recreational level. We have lovely areas for day trips all along the CT coastline. Now that I've retired, I'd love to document these areas with a videography setup like yours. May I ask which camera you use, your mounting position for such steady shots, and any other tips? If you'd share the name of your video editing software, that would also be appreciated! Happy paddling!!
  • If you're looking for firewood on the small isles, youre best bet is to try and find driftwood. Very few trees grow there. I used to holiday on Eigg when i was a boy, and when my parents wanted some time to themselves, they would send the kids out looking for kindling, knowing that we would be gone for hours and come back empty handed.

What a great video...your narrative makes viewing very relaxing as does the music...although, i would like the sound of the music a little lower than the sound of your narrative. Looking forward to your next video...stay safe!

Two videos in one day. Great! What stunning scenery and locations to camp. The view from the First camping spot was the best. The weather is so changeable up there. you have days of lovely calm weather in between wind, rain or both.
  • Incredible video! Hope to know Scotland some day soon. Have you ever tried kayak sailing? Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
