I was in 7th grade when this commercial ran. One day, in the middle of study hall, a guy in my class suddenly jumped up and exclaimed "WOW! Sorry, teach, I didn't know the gum was loaded!"

Everyone burst into laughter. I had to fight the urge to jump up and sing "He didn't know! The gum was loaded!"

Anyway, that was around 35 years ago, and this morning it popped into my head and I had to find this ad so I could explain to my girlfriend why I was laughing for no apparent reason.

For some reason this song just popped in my head as i sat down to eat Chinese food just now. Lol. Weird how these old commercial jingles from my youth pop up outta nowhere.

"Ay, ordinary gum this ain't" and "he didn't know the gum was loaded" has stuck with me all these decades. It's so cool to be seeing it again.

@MATHERIK7 Sure is. I remember her as the very dowdy daughter of Nancy Walker in "The Nancy Walker Show". It was always worth a laugh to hear her say, "Hellooo, Mother."

When and where was actress Margaret Hamilton born and when did she first appear as Cora, the shopkeeper in classic TV commercials for Maxwell House coffee? ❤🎉😮😊

The teacher is played by Mitzi Hoag, who was the best part of the short lived TV series "We'll Get By".

I was nine years old and even then my eyes were glued to the blonde girl's sweater.

  • Is it only me or does anyone else hear " I didn't know the GUN was loaded" and it's at a school. This commercial would never be made today.
