  • I used to hate kimchi. I hated the smell and everything about it. Now I eat kimchi with literally every meal. It’s an addiction at this point

"BBQ is not yummy" Girl... Them's is fightin words...
  • This happens a lot. People try a unknown food for the 1st time but wasn't properly made or cook. Then you write off that same dish for the rest of your life. Later on try the same dish but by a better cook and you realize that the 1st dish you ate was the REAL problem. Then you think "Man! this is good, I could have eaten this a long time ago multiple times if that cook wouldn't have given it a bad 1st impression." It gives you the I missed out feeling.
  • I love how jeanell talks about foods as if it’s a cult like ‘convert them?’ I’m scared

"That's what was I used to say up until last year" What in the fuckety fuck were you eating in the name of barbeque up until last year to form an opinion like that ?

This is the exact same thing I've been telling my cousin for years in relation to sushi. "You just haven't found the kind that you like yet". He finally found it and he loves it now!

That's my brother and oh boi, his face when he realized he missed up a lot of great food is at top 5 my most satisfying "I told you so." Moments

I have one major rule in my life and that is. "If you don't like barbecue we can't be friends!"

Nothing says “let’s argue” more than coming right off the bat with a problematic statement😂

I used to HATE pasta, like regular red sauce and spaghetti when I started cooking by myself and looking up recipes I found out the pasta I had been presented to by my family was just underseasoned (thanks, british part of the family for that one) one of my fave things to cook now..

Reminds me of my first time eating squid. It was sooo hard and gummy, I couldn't even swallow it. But my mom told me that it wasn't the best, and that she had squid which was way betrer. So I'm gonna try it again sometime when I have the opportunity

I worked at a very good local BBQ spot. We had a regular customer that would get a full rack of baby back ribs and a full rack of beef ribs every week. He was a solid 400-450 lbs. One day I (when I wasn’t working) he came in as usual and before he finished he keeled over on the table, then the floor, dead. He died the way he lived, face full of good food and a heart full of cholesterol. I’ll miss you big bastard, always was a nice guy.

This is lowkey SUPER true about basically any food! Like growing up I never had true authentic Italian food, but now my wife is Italian and she makes everything from scratch and omg...the difference between store bought jarred sauce and actually homemade Italian sauce is world's apart! Also I didn't know homemade meatballs could be so amazing, she's making them this weekend and I'm freaking hyped!😁😁😁
  • I was so shocked and offended by the title that my future 5 generations can feel it... 😅😅😅

My uncle had about 7 Japanese foreign exchange medical students staying with him over a summer. He brought them to my parents cabin where Grandma made her pan fried chicken with bacon greens one day while we smoked brisket and pork for BBQ the next day. I swear those kids ate their body weight in food. Everyone loves a good BBQ!!!
  • If you like American BBQs then you’ll LOVE South African braais. It’s pretty similar but we cook the meat over a fire and even when the meat and garlic bread or braai broodjie is all cooked, we keep the fire lit and gather around it for the rest of the day. It’s an amazing tradition. From a proudly South African 🇿🇦❤️‍🔥
