Phil Driscoll-I Exalt Thee (Full 1983 album-not 1998 re-release) CD audio

Published 2022-10-12
This is Phil Driscoll's 1983 release on Sparrow Records of I Exalt Thee. This is not the 1998 re-record. Phil said he liked his "now" voice better on the 1998 release over this one. I love Phil but I disagree. I like the "old" "raw" Phil of the early 1980's when he sounded like a mix between Joe Cocker and Ray Charles who were two of his big influences. This album was one of the best. There's nothing like the albums Sound The Trumpet, Covenant Children which was later renamed The Spirit , I Exalt Thee, Power of Praise and Instrument of Praise. I'm a fan of all of his music but those albums are just incomparable.

  • Raised a Christian. Our whole life was the church. The hypocrisy I saw in the church as I grew older turned me from the church and with it God. I soon came back to God my creator, but not the Church. After many years of unrest and searching, I saw a sign for a Phil Driscoll concert. I pulled into the parking lot and went in not even knowing he was. In short, through his music I found the real Jesus, and in over 40 years I've never lost Him.
  • This is a man who the Holy Spirit used to exalt our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST.
  • I could not agree more the 1983 release was the best. Brings me to tears every time. What an amazing man of God!
  • Brother Phil, your voice and music are a passionate combination in worshipping The Lord! ❀ Reminds me very much of my dear friend, @Joshua Onley. So much alike, his voice and yours. I know he appreciates your songs and will always do. Bless his dear soul ❀. I woke up by 4am this morning with praising God with your song "America the beautiful" and had to tune to this channel to get the full fill of praise/ worship from your songs. We had several of your albums in the 80's and it really impacted my Christian journey and that of my late husband. I appreciate you. God bless you!πŸ™πŸ½β€πŸŒπŸŒŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½

I used to have this album in the 80's. Then I fell away from God. 3 years ago I returned and have been so blessed by his music. ❀❀❀
  • Praise the Lord most High! Hearing this album was truly a walk back down memory lane. I went to a prayer meeting with a friend I attended elementary school with who was known to mostly ALL of his classmates as a hothead. By God's never ending love and providence He allowed us to meet one day after many years. He begin to share the gospel with me and how he had given his heart to Jesus Christ and had become a born again believer. I grew up "attending" church service but because of hypocrisy within the ministry, many were caught up in tradition. I knew about Jesus but had not yet met him. At this prayer meeting I heard the gospel proclaimed with the Love of God and power of the Holy Ghost. It was something I hadn't heard before but I knew in my heart that it was the TRUTH. I came forth to the altar, knelt down and repented of my sin and asked Jesus to come in my heart..... and he did. Afterwards I started attending a "full gospel Baptist ministry" and a brother there was a DJ on the radio at night where they aired secular music during the day, but he played sermons and gospel music at night. One night he played Amazing Grace by Phil Driscoll. When he started singing, I actually thought it was Ray Charles, but then he started playing the trumpet, which was always my favorite brass instrument. I had heard some talented players in my life, but when Phil started running up the scales with double C's and the like I was brought into the presence of the most High God, creator of Heaven and Earth. I was hooked for life and now for all eternity. 1983 is the year I truly started walking with the Lord and the same year I was blessed to hear a little bit of Heaven. Glory to God*

So recently over the weekend 8/12/2023, I noticed that the Apple Music App updated both the original 1983 "I Exalt Thee" and 1984 "Celebrate Freedom" Albums to the original masters and not the 1998 remixed versions. They also removed the 1998 version from the Apple Music catalog. So it looks like the original masters are back to stay.
  • I have always enjoyed his music 🎺 anointed by God 🎺for sure 🎺many many years 🎺
  • Ever so refreshing worship! Thanks, Phil. I have followed you since the early 80s, and you bring me to a certain place of worship all the time.
