  • I wish I was born in America you guys are so lucky! I'm stuck in California
  • This video makes me feel like I’m spending quality time with my grandpa
  • Not just guns, this man talks about life. I can listen to him for hours. Just a great human.

My first 1911 was a Rock Island. I carry it every day and I've customized it to hell and back. Ran several hundred rounds through it, and the only time I ever had an issue out of it was when I first bought it. Guy sold it to me with a 7 round Colt magazine in it, wouldn't feed right. Went out and bought an 8 round mag and it ran like a dream, still does to this day

If you have $3000 to spend, buy a quality $500 - 600 pistol. Then spend the rest of your money on ammo and training. You'll be a better shot than what any custom pistol can make you...

Hickok45 is a great example of a great human being!
  • As a blacksmith, thank you for shedding light on just how long the polishing process can take. The difference is inversely exponential, so as you get to those higher grits and such, it's really hard to tell the difference. This sometimes meaning going from grinding to filing to dry sanding, then wetsanding to polishing numerous times with different compounds, wheels, and techniques. I'm only an amateur blacksmith, and my work sometimes sees 10+ finishing techniques, so I can't even imagine how many a master gunsmith might use.

I love how he doesn't immediately start trashing the "cheap" pistol, and even has positive things to say about it.

  • You just made me pull out my WWII 1911. Beautiful weapons. My father passed it down. He served in Luzon.
  • @ItsSamus
Imagine being shot by guy and hearing that chuckle from a distance

"$500 is not cheap." Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking.
  • I love you show no bias in your reviews. I spent years in the military with Colt 1911s. Once retired, I found 1K+ 1911s cost prohibitive. After watching your video, I gave the RIA 1911 FS GI model a try. Outside of changing the grips to checkered rosewood, I love the weapon. Once broken in, it willingly eats anything I run through it. Thanks for what you do!
  • People often confuse the terms 'cheep' with 'good value'. I treated myself to a new Rock Island 1911A1 FS for my 61st birthday for $475.00 on July of 2022. Being a tinkerer, I added a Wolff spring kit, swapped the flat main spring housing for an arched main spring housing, and a replaced the funky smooth wood grips with Viet Nam era brown plastic grips. It ran great with both Chip McCormick 8 round magazines and Colt 7 round magazines using my reloads.

Hickock is more accurate with pistols than most people are with rifles.
  • @mikeemerson4284
I've got a couple of friends with those Rock islands are very nice and they shoot really good
