2024 Lucid Air First Drive: A Shining Star of Innovation and Engineering

Published 2024-04-12
You may not have heard of Lucid Motors but it's already leaps and bounds ahead of established players and setting new benchmarks for the automotive industry in general.

The 2024 Lucid Air is such a well-executed electric vehicle (EV) that the company has established itself as a potential disruptor to the automotive industry. Simply put, the Air is wildly impressive.

AutoTrader.ca Editor-in-Chief Jodi Lai gives her first impressions of Lucid's debut vehicle, a luxury mid-size sedan.

Air GT Owner. I watch every single review of the LUCID line up, and by far your review of the line up is the best out there. You feature on what is really important to the consumer, which is range, followed by comfort, design and tech and only touch on power/speed. Way to many channels focus on Speed and Power. But every person looking at an EV, always ask what is the range over every other question. Good for you! Keep up the good work and good luck.

Well done review! The Lucid beat Tesla in all categories in my opinion.

Their powertrain (Motor plus gear) is also industry leading.
  • Jodi, When I saw the words 'Shining Star' in the title, I thought this video was a biopic of your life story. 🀩🀩🀩🀩

I almost bought a Lucid air because, it's the only EV that has a range of 500 miles. But 3 things stopped me. 1, here in Pennsylvania there is only one place in the entire state that works on them 2, it would cost me 100K for that 500 miles of range. 3 I paid 41K for 570 miles of range with my jaguar XJL now paid off. But the Lucid is a very nice car...

Looks wonderful!!! I want one. I will be getting one in a year or two. Need to replace my car and this wonderful looking luxury ev just does it for me. I want the top of the line Sapphire, though.😊

Lucid may be a California based company but a large percentage of their vehicles are NOT built in California. In fact, the vehicles are built proudly in Casa Grande Arizona just south of Phoenix where the largest Intel and TSMC chip plants are being built in the United States. Arizona prides these tech companies who call Arizona their home base of renovation compared to the communist state of California.

Love the design but I think it's aimed at such an exclusive clientele they might just fail.

I'm not an EV fan. Mostly due to the fact that most of them are garbage. But I'm really rooting for Lucid. Great looking. Great tech. Not some empty shell of a car and nicely appointed...but not not appointed well enough for those price tags...ouch.

We live in USA we don’t got by Kilometer we use miles 😊

Way too many mentions of "vibes." Lucid isn't a Coachella band. They make cars with engineering a decade ahead of anyone else.
