A patient’s heartfelt thanks

Mary LeFebvre went into cardiac arrest as she arrived in the emergency room of The Miriam Hospital in 2012. She credits Joseph Lauro, MD for not giving up on her and saving her life. After sending him thank you notes every year on the anniversary of that fateful night, the two were reunited in the ER five years later. Learn more at www.miriamhospital.org/

See? That's what doctors need. A hug from their patients. Recently before the pandemic hit physician suicides were off the charts! 400 doctors a year. That's why my doctors aren't just doctors to me. They're my friends. Society has forgotten the humanity behind each doctor. Behind the lab coats and scrubs are hearts of the purest gold. Caring hearts. Not greedy hearts that only want money. So, if you ever see your doctor sad, or burnt out, give him or her a hug. It may save the life of the one who's saved your life.
