The make the chain driven differential, I used gears taken from the BMW e46 2.0d differential. The differential can drive vehicles such as trikes, go-karts, buggy and other vehicles that will be powered by a motorcycle engine.

guys who can build stuff like this blow my mind. I'd rather watch this than some guy chasing a ball any day.

Not only gets upvote for the awesome build but also for letting us hear the sounds of the saws, grinders, arcs & whatnot without having crappy dance music or some such drowning it out.

I love these kinds of videos. no stupid narration, no god-awefull music, just two hands, a shit load of powertools and their (slightly and tremendously sped up) sounds. making something that i myself do not have the knowledge and skills nor the immediate use for.

Thanks for this... I'm building a very similar design of diff, but at a much smaller scale... It's for an HPV/ small EV with a power of under 2kW... My output shafts are 12mm in diameter, the outer casing is 70mm in diameter, with only 2mm wall thickness... You validated a lot of my design choices!
  • I had to watch this twice it was so amazing. It looks like your diff is leak proof so you might be able to put diff oil in it. When I did mine on my trike I had the prop shaft input flange cut into a sprocket but then I had to also use a bevel gearbox from a farm implement ( Rated 70 HP). That was ten years ago and it's still going around England somewhere.
  • Man you are a freaking wizard! Appreciate your knowledge of tools and machines! Never think about chain driven diff!

That was amazing to watch, a lot of thought and accurate measuring went into that one ! that looks like an ideal dif for a chain driven bike trike ! With the disc set up it looks like the jag 4.2 rear end i was using for a rover v8 trike i was building some years ago, that would have been ideal as a engineered minimised alternative as had to cut down the length of the drive shafts to fit 15" wide back wheels ;)
  • I’ve been thinking of making this exact design for ages! Just went live axle for the buggy instead. LSD or locker would be so cool to have

VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! That would be perfect for so many other projects!! I can't wait to see how you use it.

You sir, are a first-class engineer, there is no doubt in my mind about that. Brilliant job.

Heat should not be a problem since there is no hypoid (ring and pinion). You should consider adding a ounce or two excess CV grease. It will find its way around as the spiders and side gears rotate. Then you can rifle bore one of the side flanges to vent into the CV without worrying of cross contaminating the lubricants.

Oh wow that's some serious work .. you make it look so easy . I'd guess a lot of planning and thought as well as precise measurements. Can't wait to see part 2 .
  • This is one of the best channels on YouTube. Love watching this guy make all this stuff. Every videos is interesting

можно уменьшить площадь фланцев крепления тормозных дисков. это снизив общий вес, инерцию. балансировка корпуса лишней не будет. отличная идея и Великолепное исполнение. Мастеру Уважение

IMPRESSIVE! There is nothing else that needs to be said. From video idea, picture quality, sound and editing. All around one of the best video I've seen here on YouTube. Be proud my friend, your talents go far from just what you do in the garage
  • I started watching this to get an idea how to build one myself since I wanted to build something that requires one for couple of years now, I think it might take some years still to be able to build one like this. Impressive! Good job! Maybe one day I'll use this video to actually build one.

I really appreciate the time you put in on these videos. Thank you.

Most of you people talking crap about this dudes work couldn't even imagine to do all the work he just did. Great video
