Is it Possible to Paint Vinyl Cosplay Boots and Gloves?

With just over a week and a half before Comic Con in San Diego, I decided I wanted black boots for my new Rebel Pilot cosplay. It was going to take 3-6 weeks for any of the ones I wanted on Amazon, so I thought maybe I could paint or dye my brown ones. There are many paints that I found but the reviews were less than impressive. But then I came across this stuff called recoloring balm from a company called Coconix that had one day delivery! Not sure if the intent is to use it the way I did, but that did not stop me!
