Brand new Gigabyte B650E Aorus Master motherboard. I get black screens when I put my Ryzen 7950x CPU under load. BIOS is at factory defaults, no overclocking, no XMP/EXPO loaded. Tried all BIOSes, running without a GPU, running with just 1 memory stick, changed the power supply, running Windows in Safe Mode. Nothing helps.

Update 3: I bought Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero and it has been been running flawlessly for the past few days! No black screens anymore. 🙂 I even run the CPU overclocked at 5.40 Ghz on CCD1 and 5.30 Ghz on CCD2 without issues. This Asus motherboard is packed full with features and there's a ton that I still haven't explored. I'm really satisfied with it and I can recommend it (if you can afford it, of course).

Update: The shop I bought the motherboard from has just confirmed that it's indeed defective. They are waiting to receive a new batch of motherboards to test with which will take another week at least.

That's exactly my problem... I've buyed this mainboard + 7950X3D + G.Skill 6000MHz CL30. But it is not under high CPU load, the black screen occurs completely random. My monitor loses the signal, my keyboard and mouse RGB goes out and the Q-Code on the Aorus Master is also out and the CPU-LED is orange. I'am going crazy, first i thought it was a problem with my M.2 drives, then my RAM, tested various RAM stick combinations and also increased the voltage, as well as with EXPO and without EXPO, the PC still get's the black screen... And i can't reset the PC even with the reset button on the motherboard. The only way is to shut down the power supply. Sometimes, after the restart, i get the Q-Code "C5" and i have to reset the BIOS. And i also tried different BIOS versions. So, i guess... it is the motherboard that is faulty :(

hi, I noticed that you omitted the installation of a cooler for the 980 pro SSD. Does it conflict with the Freezer or is there another reason for the omission? thanks!

@bgtubber I'm quite curious I also got a B650E Aorus Master here and am going to test my board (probably on friday). In your tests how many SSD's were installed?

i've had b650 aorus pro ax and needed more I/o so ordered b650e aorus master and this has same issue with 7900x cpu, i've had same components working flawlessly for couple months on pro ax before moving to master, this would go black screen with post code reader blank then to restart had to power cycle the PSU as the power/reset buttons wouldnt respond. - so for a fact this is the master problem, i'm trying to return this now hope this shop won't charge me 20% restocking fee as one of the reddittors with the same board bought from the same shop had
  • I had this happen twice with the same motherboard. Just black screen'd, couldn't even power down with power button on my case or the button on the mobo. Had to shut off the power supply and reboot that way. Got mine from Amazon
  • I have the same issue with b650 aorus elite ax & 7600X How do you fix it?
  • @Penallica
My fucking god, I`m under a lot of stress right now because I have the same motherboad and I hope that I don't run into the same problem that you did. I'm waiting for my processor now, a ryzen 7800 x3d. Hope that it all works well. Sorry you went through all this bullshit.

This has been happening with mine for the past few months, even after many BIOS updates. I've had it. I'll be very hesitant to buy anything from Gigabyte again.

Go with a different brand. Asus B650E-E Gaming WIFI looks delicious!

Update 2: I've just received back the motherboard from Gigabyte which is now allegedly "fixed" according to them. However, when I put the CPU under load I get exactly the same issue - black screen and can't turn off the PC. They wasted me a whole month and a whole bunch of money just to return the very same defective motherboard without fixing it! I'm done with Gigabyte and will never buy a Gigabyte product ever again!!

Got the same problem with the same Mobo. Just bought R7950x+Gigabyte B650E Aorus Master+ 64 Gb DDR5 5600. And nothing helps: updated bios, downgraded bios, changed videocard and without it, changed ddr5 memory sticks, no matter one or two sticks of memory - got the same problem with the black screen and no reaction to the power button. Ahh, it's so dissapointing.. Now I'm waiting for the answer from the local store, from their service center what they will say - 7 days already passed.

Also, change your cooler block orientation upside down(tubes to top side). Many tech channels suggest it.

Don’t rule out defective CPU. Rare, but happens.
