I often get asked where I get my hair done and everyone is shocked when I tell them I do it myself.

Here's my go to tutorial on how I lighten and keep up my platinum blonde hair.

NOTE |

I'm not an expert so I do want to just warn you that if you try this yourself you have to take caution

I am only doing my roots in this video, but if you want to do your full head (and your hair hasn't been bleached at all) the main steps still apply (you just won't need to section off your hair if you don't want to, you can just apply it however it easiest to you!)

* IF you have some bleach processed hair (so brown with highlights or something) you can't go straight white with already bleached hair on your head but doing it in less harsh steps you can get there. I started with a couple bleach baths with 20 volume to even it out and as my hair grew out I was able to get this white!*

HOW TO TIP |

I do two rounds of 20 volume developer so it's a less intensive application on my head.
Everyone's hair color is different and I know that my hair takes two rounds (sometimes even a third for touch ups) of 20. If your hair is lighter than mine, the color may lift quicker and you may only need one round, or you may need all three rounds it all depends. Going with a stronger developer than 20 just means the strength to pull the color is more intense which can also mean more hard on your hair and greater chance for it to melt it. So this works for me, and if you have time I'd strongly suggest doing it this way! Just make sure to give a good amount of time for your hair/head to recover from the bleaching process. It's weak every time you bleach so be careful with not overlapping into previously bleached hair AND do give time for it to rest.
Also using coconut oil yes helps the hair stay nourished but I use it mainly for controlling the hair for an easier application. I've heard some say it prevents the bleach from fully working and people say that it doesn't and works great. Personally, I've tried it a ton of times with coconut oil and a ton of times without (I've been doing this for a few years now lol) and I notice no difference, so I'm stickin' with it!

I just love that she's not talking and babbling nonsense like all other videos AND that it's under 10 minutes AND informative AND I love the music!!
  • @motorcyclehair
As a hairdresser, this is the 1st video I've ever seen on youtube where the average person took sections. Bravo, that's why you ended up with thorough saturation.

That coconut oil before you bleach trick is honestly such a lifesaver! I've used it twice and my hair feels barely damaged at all

I’m a licensed cosmetologist and honestly I have almost no complaints for this video..Almost. If you’re bleaching at home, or using any sort of chemical- you need to wear gloves. Chemical burns aren’t pretty, people tend to forget to think of bleach as the chemical that it is and it can do SERIOUS damage.

I have no intention of ever going platinum blonde, but still watched this video from start to end lol

Love the NO talking and how it’s quick, simple and to the point! ❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕
  • This was an incredibly helpful video. I bleached my hair and it came out yellow (after toning). I watched your video, covered my head in coconut oil and repeated the bleaching and toning process. My hair is an icy platinum blonde. Thanks again!
  • Coconut oil has a low Molecular weight, thus allowing it to penetrate the hair shaft. This helps the hair maintain protein that would be otherwise lost in the hair when bleaching. With more protein surviving after the chemical process, The hair shaft does not expand and contract since it is full; meaning there is less chance of breakage and only the pigment had been bleached. Using an 100% organic coconut oil is best, since it is organic; like ur hair, the bleach will penetrate it, but at a slower pace. If your are not fast or a professional, this trick she is showing you allows you to take your time and get a consistent/safe result. ALTHOUGH, application of the coconut oil should be applied 30mins before you bleach (minimum, I prefer 2 hrs and using a volume 30 for black to blond). This is the best video I have see on how to safely DIY bleach your hair, Bravo !

Hair dying videos without the talking and just music playing are the best

ONCE I WENT BLONDE 9 REALIZED HOW FREAKING FAST MY HAIR GROWS LIKE YEEZZZ CALM DOWN WHY DONT MY EYELASHES GROW THIS FAST
  • Just want you to know that because of your video, I've been bleaching my hair to a white platinum for over a year using your method! Only thing I changed was that I start with a 20 vol then I gradually go into a 30 (because my hair is darker than yours). I also switched the coconut oil with a redken extreme hair mask just because the oil made the bleaching a bit blotchy but the hair mask protects really well. Thanks for making this very easy to follow. People ask me all the time where I get my hair done and I love being able to say I do it myself!

brand mondo should watch this cos it would make him happy
  • From a stylist stand point I know so many people who can’t afford to go to a salon for insane prices So I will recommend specific products and what to do and not to do so they can at least do it safely I’ve even went over to peoples houses to teach them how Yes it’s money out of my pocket and one less client but I’m not about the money I’m about making people feel beautiful Doing hair at home isn’t that bad And coconut oil does help hair keep integrity it’s close enough to olaplex
  • @XXXSmoshLovaXXX
so good, so so good, she did such a wonderful job demonstrating this. i used to do my own platinum a few years ago, i got tired of doing my roots and started going to a salon, now i’m sick of paying that much and simply forgot how this process is correctly done. thank you <3!
  • I rewatch this as a refresher every time I do my roots. It gets them nice and light so I can put my fashion colors over it.
  • I swear your hair looks the absolute healthiest bleached hair I’ve EVER seen
  • @dsdssewedc7591
Gurlll you're so brave, I bet that scalp was literally lit 😂 but it turned out so even, so icy, so beautiful! Most people would be too afraid to bleach the roots twice so they'd just tone them but it always ends up patchy and the brassiness quickly creeps in. Loved this video :)
  • instead of paying $150-$200 to get this professionally done, i’m only paying $40. thank you so much! i’m also adding wella color charm 050 to give it an even cooler violet look
  • @gavinlowrie3000
Thank you for posting this! Using your method, I have been a beautiful platinum for almost a year now. I am naturally a dark brown color!
