  • My first date with my then 17 year old girlfriend was at a Steeleye Span gig. Maddy was wearing that same yellow dress and she sang and danced up on some kind of boom arm for one of the numbers. Magical. That was back in the ‘mid 70s. My girl is 62 now , I’m 73 and we’re sweethearts still.

Maddie, Jacqui mcshee, Sandy Denny and Annie Haslam my god there was some vocal talent around in Britain in the 70's.
  • Anyone else just found themselves going down a very long 70's rabbit hole for the evening?
  • @mkay6089
Well.... Will you look at that. A group who can sing and play instruments. No choreographed mix dancing to a backing track. Proper music. Magic.
  • Saw them in concert last night. She is 75 now but she's still got it. An excellent evening.
  • Folk at its finest, this the 1970s at its best! Bless beautiful Maddy what a talented woman 😍
  • @richardlafette
That is ridiculously brilliant. Vocals, phrasing, accenting, bass, drums, guitars. Staggering.

I never even knew I liked folk music yet this is one of my all time favourites of ANY genre! 🤔1️⃣🎧💥
  • My son is 17, I'm 54. He just told me that this is great stuff! I'm somewhat happy about this!

Maddy always knocked my socks off and she sings like an angel. O.K. she's a babe.

I'm 89 years young, and I'm so glad that my 5-year-old son introduced me to this band! Somehow, I never knew about them before.

First got it in 1976. Listening to it in 2021. Had the chance to dance it with Maddy herself in an open air festival during the late 80s, while the band was performing it. Probably the most unforgettable moment in my life.

I’m an American with very little British or Irish blood flowing through me, but still, I listen to Steeleye Span quite a bit, and love Maddy’s voice, and the guys’ harmonies. Absolutely delightful stuff.

There's a reason this has over a million hits. It's still terrific!

This is so unusual..i can imagine people singing this kind of melodies hundreds of years ago in the countryside of England. Fantastic. Stays in your head after hearing it.

I'm french, and I adore Maddie Prior and his group since about 40 years. For me , " live at last" is a monument, which allows me to discover the british folk, like Lindisfarne and so on. I've always been impressed by the passion and the talent of these artists, like in my country by Malicorne or Tri Yann for example... The good music has no frontiers....And that is very very good music and good musicians.... Love you..
  • Such a happy memory song...1975 Just met my beloved wife of 40 years...now no longer with me, taken by the dreadful disease Alzheimer at 70 years of age...have some tears now.
