I wrote this song during the past month as a gift for my Mummy for her 70th Birthday. When I asked her what she would like for her birthday, she said she would like a song. How could I refuse? But also what could I write for her that would some how incapsulate some of my gratitude and love for all her support over the years, particularly with my music.

My mother sat patiently in a chair in our hallway at home and later in our front living room where the upright piano lived and listened for year after year of every new song I had learnt to play, sing and master and eventually write. To put this into some context I have been writing songs from the age of 9 and I left home at 24! I miss having her next to me to listen to my latest imagined creation. She was never judging, never criticised, just sat there sipping her tea or glass of wine and nodded with enthusiasm and praise. And occasionally she would would leave an album in vinyl, tape and later CD on my bed of some great songwriters music. And my love of Paul Simon, Suzanne Vega, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Joan Armatrading and all the other great songwriters began. She along with my father gave me all that a child needs to pursue a passion. So, here it is Mummy and happy birthday. Love you more than the stars. xx
