Are the people who get banned from cruise lines reckless and dangerous? Or did they just make silly mistakes? In this video we will look at real stories from people who were banned from cruises, for life. Some put themselves and others in danger but some were just accomplices to the acts.

Did they deserve the ban? Let me know in the comments!

  • Definitely agree with the ban for all that guy's friends. I've watched the footage, they're all encouraging him and none try to stop him. Nobody in that party ever had safety in mind so you can't take the risk with any of them.

The guy who jumped probably had no idea how close he came to not surviving to be punished. The maximum survivable fall into water for a sober person is around 160 ft. (according to a Mythbusters experiment). He was probably drunk and that saved his life (apparently drunk people crumple more on impact drastically increasing their chances of surviving). At 120 ft. an object would hit the water at 96 km/h.

People who stand on the balcony railing should absolutely be banned. I had a friend on a ship that had to do a rescue at sea and it was quite an extensive process. They missed a port because of it. That is not something to joke around with.

Someone who purposely violates an important safety rule is showing an attitude that makes them dangerous to have onboard. They should be banned.
  • I do know a cruise ship's captain who has been in service for quite a few years. This would be a well known British cruise line! He told me that he had to order an entire family to leave his ship after they showed very little regard to other cruise passengers and the complaints came flooding in. He did say that this sort of behaviour is now unfortunately on the increase. After cruising for many years without ever seeing any such incidents I think that this is a terrible shame and spoils the whole ambiance of a ship and the passengers enjoying their voyage. Some people can be selfish, stupid and thoughtless to others.

Emma is a "Cruising Gateway Drug." 3 videos later...what just happened??? All the sudden, I care about cruises now. I also just booked a cruise. Wha?!?! LOL

I was on P&O Cruise when a whole family got thrown off. Their bad behaviour included fooling around in a glass lift. Surprise surprise the lift "developed a fault" and the whole family was stuck there for some time before they "fixed" it. They were then chucked off.

The cruise line is totally justified in banning those who so blatantly violate their safety protocols. It's not about stopping individuals from having fun, it's keeping the idiots from killing themselves and putting so many others (cruisers and staff alike) in jeopardy. This isn't a matter of taking all the crab cakes in the buffet, it's about endangering others and even yourself.
  • Even if someone was dressed up as a clown, what excuse is that for violence! It is so shocking and alcohol is no excuse for it! Plenty of people can drink, even get inappropriately plastered, without becoming thugs! Thank you for the video.
  • We were on the Caribbean Princess going through the Pana Canal, when a man sat on the railing above the pilot house to look over the heads on everyone that was on the observation deck.. we were in the cabin right behind him, and I had to call security. 3 times. I really didn't want to see a person die that day, and it seemed no one took me seriously. Finally our cabin steward went out and told gim to get down. I felt sorry for our steward. Security didn't show up for 30 mins after that.

I was on a Norwegian ship about 10 years ago and a fight broke out in the audience of a show. I don’t know if they got banned, but I kind of hope so.
  • i worked on Symphony of The Seas in August 2019 when this australian guy jumped from the 11th deck at like 2 am , mind you symphony was "the largest cruise ship in the world" at he time now its second to Wonder , but the ship itself took almost an hour just to turn around , we ended up spotting the guy in the ocean and he was already gone by the time he was rescued , very disturbing experience to say the least.

I have this acquaintance. Bragged about the crazy things she does when she gets plastered..... from running naked around the hotel building at 4am with her friends, to dancing on the table in bars. Well, she started going on cruises, for the last year bragging she can go on them whenever she wants. Well, that didn't last too long. According to her former friend (who was with her, and now embarrassed by her) , she got so drunk at a dinner, she got up fell into the waiter knocking over the tray he was holding and it knocked someone in the head :elderly. She also vomited all over the floor. They had to lift this 230 pound woman back to her room. The elderly man sued........ not the cruise line, but HER. Had to forfeit all her "free" cruises. She isn't bragging anymore. PS...btw, this person is well in her forties

Oddly I was reminded of the other major incident on Britannia only a few days ago by a lady I was talking to who was on the ship at the time. She normally cruises with Celebrity but with all the hype around Britannia at the time decided to sail the Caribbean on her. A whole family brawled on the top deck - drunk. Punches were flying etc. The WHOLE family (and I believe there were quite a few of them) were debarked in Antigua and had to find their own way home. Imagine the cost!
  • Do stupid tricks, win stupid prizes! They guy that jumped off from the 11th deck needed to get banned for life. He is a liability issue for the cruise line. His friends also deserved the ban. Sometimes you must make an example of people for their stupid "stunts." Great video, Emma.
  • On our very first cruise many years ago a troubled teen jumped off our floor at the back of the ship on our last night. We spent the rest of the night circling and searching but they never found him. It was a terrible way to end a perfectly enjoyable vacation.
  • @kellin12
How weird, just last night I was watching an Australian t.v. show and they said a party was "fancy dress". I was so confused when they went in costumes. Fancy dress here would mean formal. Weird that it would come up again the very next day.
  • @mikewelborn8989
"A violent late night brawl with blood everywhere" and a clown. That sounds like the set up for a joke(or perhap a horror show)! Perhaps also a disclaimer "No clowns were harmed on this cruise". :)
  • @karichucko6243
Regarding the guys who were all banned because one of them jumped: perhaps Royal thought they encouraged their friend to jump and therefore were as guilty as if they themselves jumped. Maybe not fair, but from Royal’s perspective, they could end up jumping or encouraging someone else to jump, so why take that chance.

When I was a young lad suffering from testosterone poisoning I jumped into the dive pool at a swim club from the retractable roof 60' then unsurprisingly banned for life and forfeited my yearly dues I had paid ahead on. I've done water insertions via the military previously and knew how to drop in from height. I cannot imagine being untrained and dropping from twice the height. Dang!
