  • To those watching on the 10th anniversary of this amazing games of this decade, there are so many wonderful moments that make this the most memorable games to ever make a milestone. For those coming for the nostalgia, welcome back, and for those watching for the first time, enjoy the show.

Cannot believe this amazing moment in my childhood was nearly a decade ago. I still remember trying to look for my mum amongst the dancers and holding onto my plush cat. This was honestly one of the best times in my life.

I remembered watching this with the family and being shocked how most of the things that I loved came from British culture. I already knew about Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Doctor Who and various other things. But I had an eagerness of exploring the city, seeing the statues, and hearing Big Ben ring. I realized that going to London was my dream and promised myself that one way or another I was going to see the city in person someday. Seven years later my dream came true!

As someone who worked this ceremony , it lives on as one my favourite nights , I was outside the stadium helping people to get home , I missed it live , but watched it the next day , the smiles and happiness in people faces lives with me , I heard it , the music , it remains as my one of my greatest nights ever , I went to the pub afterwards and everyone bought me drinks , we laughed and cried , a moment of true happiness in my life

I have no idea why I decided to watch the entire 2012 Opening Ceremony at the end of June 2020, but here I am.

For us Brits this ceremony really hit home, We went from worry and concern to awe. It was about us our history and also a bit of fun. My dream was always to visit an Olympics and I did in 2012. Never forgotten.

10 years today! Still an iconic opening ceremony

This brings tears to my eyes 10 years on. Caliban, Brunell, the NHS, Dizzy Rascal, Olympics in East London and Danny Boyle in charge of that. Choreography, costumes, lighting, sound, everything on point. The Queen not telling her family she was involved. That's class. I was so proud then and still am of that moment (thank you Radio 4 for The Reunion) but...I won't spoil it.
  • I've watched this show more than 20 times, it never goes out of style and surpasses many of the opening ceremonies I've seen since then. And I think it will be a long time before there is an opening ceremony like this

The ceremony still looks brand new. It's hard to believe 10 years have passed.

The industrial revolution section is still one of the most epic performances ever. The movement, the music, the special effects. It looks amazing.

10 years and its as magnificent now as it was in 2012. Simply the greatest olympic opening of all time

As someone not from the UK I gotta say, I have yet to see an opening ceremony this epic. Cheap and yet brilliant. The pandemonium sequence is going to be particularly hard to beat. The amount of history, meaning and culture put into such a simple theatrical performance is just amazing.

    10 years ago, wow!
Best experience of my life performing as one of the dancing nurses in the NHS section.

Memories made, friends made, and lucky enough to share the experience with my sister too.

London 2012, the best Opening Ceremony ever 💗
  • John Lloyd
I'm watching it now and it still makes me cry. I think it may have been the last time I was proud of my country. The "Pandemonium" and "Abide with Me" sequences are achingly beautiful.

Still as amazing as it was 10 years ago. Happy tenth anniversary London 2012 🥇🇬🇧

November 2020 anyone? The industrial revolution scene still gives me chills!

I never tire of watching this. I've seen it a few times over the years and it's still incredible. The five rings coming together is totally amazing.
