not only physics, but collisions should be more realistic too. for example, a super car can be used for every terrain in this game, u can climb a mountain with a lambo with no problem, this makes off road vehicles totaly useless, hope this is fixed in gta 6, because in gta 5 is boring, you only see players using super cars

One thing I dont like about gta 5 driving is how the cars flicker automatically when driving over a sidewalk platform edge, theres no suspension at all.

thats why no one new vehicle dlc is fun anymore, because the physics, every car feels the same, there are no working suspension and there is no fun driving a static box glued to the ground

Driver San Francisco has easily the best open world driving physics hands down. If there's any game Rockstar should emulate it's that. Not too realistic but not too arcadey either, perfect middle ground. Good video btw

I really hope GTA6s physics is way closer to GTA4 than 5. My favourite thing about GTA4 was just driving around for no reason and I had a lot of fun doing it. Great video.
  • Something that must always be considered when asking the question of, "Can this game be more realistic?" is, "Should this game be more realistic?" I put forward that, no, more realism is not always better. Realism, on its own, is not conducive to fun, and simply adding realism does not necessarily make a game more fun. To use two examples, two extremes of the vehicle-focused driving game, let's look at Need for Speed (Any of the games would work for this) and BeamNG Drive. The former is an exaggerated, cartoony racing game while the latter is a painstakingly and breathtakingly detailed physics simulator that happens to focus on cars. If we took the gameplay loop of Need for Speed and added the real-time softbody physics simulation of BeamNG, would that make Need for Speed more realistic? Yes! Would that make Need for Speed more fun? Not necessarily. The reason for this is that the fun of Need for Speed comes from it being wacky, cartoony and unrealistic, while the fun of BeamNG Drive comes from it being incredibly realistic, with a real-time physics simulation and the most intricate damage modeling system implemented in a game to-date. GTA IV's driving physics, while realistic, are also exaggerated to the point of circling around to being unrealistic, while GTA V's are more exaggerated to the point where most cars are glued to the road. For as much as I love GTA IV, I would much rather have the handling physics of V than those of IV.
  • It wouldnt just make vehicle choice more important, but tuning would be far more engaging. Choices between high and low travel suspension, roll cage to stop the canopy from caving, a wide array of tires for difference surfaces.

The NFS Porsche Unleashed soundtrack at 1:33 caught me off guard

Completely agree. Yes IV is over the top when it comes to like super cars, but with regular cars, which 95% of the cars are, it's a lot more fun. And the bike physics in IV is incredible compared to V. I tried playing through the V story again since I've only completed it once and I've forgotten the plot, but I just can't enjoy it. I've finished IV at least 10 times and it still feels good.

Speed brake glitch is more commonly known as brake boosting among speed runners. Pair that with franklins special ability and you go Mach 10 in seconds

gta 5 always had quite good deformation, look at old gen ps3 xbox 360 one. It had roof deformation, door and pretty much everything. Even wheels could fall off. They heavily downgraded in next gen due to first person. Luckly u can enable it with ENB mod since apparently its just a shader related thing

5:03 Lol just add a manual mission restart/abort option. And I'd imagine the mission would imply you'd need an off road vehicle beforehand, so you'd have a chance to grab one before approaching the objective
  • @driv3ver
Ah, this mod brings back memories, I've spent thousand hours making my mod to GTA IV handling, to make it more realistic - less boat like, less durable, realistic acceleration and top speeds etc :D So much research and playtesting what a sweet times those were :D
  • @tiagobelo4965
Ngl putting GTA V's suspension on GTA IV's physics would make much more sense, cars in GTA IV drive like someone stole your suspension and replaced it with springs designed for a dirtbike, without putting the dampers or sway bars back on
  • Best thing about gta 5 and it JUST got added after 10 years is drifting. This is probably gonna be the most arcade like gta game of the HD era

Your usage of keyframes and masking is glorious and makes me jealous. Easiest sub ever.
