CAHP/CMFNH Webinar - 2016 Code Readiness Advanced Wall Construction

Published 2015-10-08
The upcoming 2016 Title 24 residential (single family and low-rise multifamily) energy code will increase wall insulation requirements to an assembly U-Factor of 0.051. These high performance walls minimize thermal bridging and reduce air leakage. While these walls help maintain air temperature within the conditioned space, reducing HVAC system demands and building energy use, they also require a departure from common construction practices. The new standard will require 2x6 construction, 24 inch on center framing, and thick exterior rigid insulation to work together. Earth Advantage has been teaching advanced wall assemblies for years. Join us to learn about assembly options, and discuss the challenges of constructability, moisture mitigation, window flashing, and structural support.
