  • You could have the greatest coach to ever exist and North would still be battling. With the list they have, they aren't going to be a competitor. Sure they've got some great talent but just aren't surrounded by good enough players. For Norths sake and the AFL I hope they continue to improve, Clarko has taken over a basket case if a club - it isn't his fault.

Maybe they brought in less experienced assistants because I dunno, in his time as a four-time premiership coach he birthed a host of other premiership coaches in the AFL including Simpson, Hardwick Beveridge. Around half the current AFL coaches are former Clarkson assistants.

How hutchy gets a pay check absolutely mind boggles me!

It’s going to take time. Look at Melbourne, they were a joke for nearly 15 years. It’s been a tough few years as an eagles supporter, so I feel for the north faithful.
  • @PeterM1-qx1tz
I thought everybody at North had accepted Clarko was given a 4 year mandate to turn the club around? Hes only 18 months in.

As an arm chair supporter for many years, my take is that some clubs recruit poorly and become stuck with mediocre players for years which significantly impacts clubs. As an example the 4 or 5 best players at a poor performing club are second tier or average compared to those at winning clubs. Lists are built around these second tier players, for years, and the issue compounds. Next minute you have a culture that's accepting of losing.

Has Malthouse going to Carlton vibes all over it.
  • @maxshiraz3447
WTF is Wilson talking about. The president's social media has zero to do with winning and losing games. She needs to retire.
  • @Bigdeano75
Daniel Macpherson was good at hosting dancing with the stars as well. Talented man

Laura Kane spent her time at north Melbourne educating the men’s team on the difference between men and women’s sport (not kidding). The most important thing in building a winning football program is understanding how men oppress women 😂😂

Everyone was on board when Clarkson took the job, now that it's taking more than 18 months to rebuild they've turned on him (what a surprise). Trading in McKercher, Duursma, Goad, Dawson and Hardeman (literal 18 year olds) can't replace the size and experience of McKay, Thomas, Cunnington, Hall, Ziebell and Goldy. I think Clarkson is doing the same thing as he did when he started at Hawthorn with a youth policy. Get the kids playing early, have them come through together, form bonds, form trust and do pre-seasons together. The hardship will be worth it if the club and team ends up being a quarter as successful as what the Hawks were under Clarkson.

If only Clarko could get his hands on another Luke Hodge and Buddy Franklin. That Hawthorn team was stacked.
  • @Alby911
All greats have an expiry date and Clarkson is no different. The game has passed him by but Clarkson's ego is what keeps the flame alive
  • @alexmansell8385
They'd do well to pick up nearly retired premiership players from Geelong or similar teams at the end of the season. GWS signing Stevie Johnson was a big part of making that that club of youngsters into a genuine premiership threat
  • @AlonsoRules
Those running the club are totally inept. One win in 12 months and it was the one they shouldn't have won. Nobody knows what they are doing.
  • @bensheridan7907
Too many Melbourne clubs for a nashy comp. It’s time for North to go back to VFL.
  • @PC-hj4wg
Ok, ok, ok, here's an assessment of the list, using the players numbers: 1 Greenwood - a battler, not AFL grade but tries hard 2 JS - a free rider, not a defensive effort in 2 years 3 - genuine good player 4 - a grandma can defend better than this clown 5 - question marks 6 - big reputation but nothing delivered yet 7 - too early to assess 8 - battler 9 - another free rider. Looking for big pay day to StKilda 10 - too early to assess 11 - battler 12 - overrated, worst (co) captain in history of club 13 - question marks 14 - why is he on our list? 15 - too early to assess 16 - VFL standard 17 - too early to assess 18 - too early to assess 19 - VFL standard 20 - good genuine player. Should be sole Captain 21 - what a joke 22 - who? 24 - question marks 25 - good player. Big team will snare him. 26 - tragedy for everyone 27 - fragile 28 - what a joke 29 - ever heard of tackling? 30 - fragile, snaps like a twig 31 - who? 32 - who? 33 - who? 34 - only made the list on memories of his father. He's no Daicos. 35 - VFL standard. 36 - who? 37 - unknown skills 38 - battler 39 - VFL standard 40 - VFL standard 41 - VFL standard 42 - too early to assess 44 - mentally checked out a year ago, waiting on big money from Essendon 45 - unknown 46 - unknown
  • @JGH1708
The coach is only as good as the players. How many premiership coaches have failed when switching to another club.
  • @WINKERS76
I’m a Don however when the Roos needed a coach everyone of these clowns said get Clarko. At the end of the day you’re only as good as the players you have. Give the Roos priority picks help sort them before Tassie comes in. 😉🇦🇺👊
