I love FMB. Last year I brought my metal detector and was able to greatly expand my collection of roofing nails.

If they put a toll on fort Myers Beach, they will never see me or my money down there everππ.

I wish you all could've seen this beach and city back in the 1979s and 80s. It was beautiful. Palm trees as far as you could see, a really nice playground right on the beach, the old pier, and nothing was better than coming over the top of that bridge and seeing all the shrimp boats and that glorious red alpine looking A frame of the original Dairy Queen. No greedy investors or hotels to ruin the open ocean.

Big Sugar's waste fertilizer is polluting Lake 'O' then flushed down the Calooosahatchee River into the Gulf.
-
No public showers anymore for rinsing off after a swim ??? That'll keep me off the beach and out of the water

My dad brought our family down to fort Myers in 1977.my dad had the first ice cream truck in lee county back then .the county commissioners did not have any laws on the books back then .they did not know how to control him.eventually they had enough laws passed that it would take many years to produce those crazy laws, this country has gone to π© since 1977π‘

You didn't mention the Lana Kai when you cruised by it at 7:25 . I believe they had to rebuild the entire first floor. Another place you could have stopped by is the Parrot Key Caribbean Grill. Open and doing good business. πΉ

"The water quality" has been Bad for Many years, related to Lake "O" - Caloosahatchee Releases .. And people were Staying / Living in Lee County, Ft Myers / S. FT Myers / FMB Full time / Yr Round, way more in recent yrs (at least before Ian) & "there was" more of a "Summer Season" beginning to happen on FMB .. The days of "Completely Dead & Zero Traffic , begin after Easter were going away" .. I got wiped out & left, a few wks, after Ian & haven't been back ..

Florida is out on the edge like a tree limb. It's edgy and Floridians are aware, fast, and smart. I'm from the 305 and I've never experienced a 'faster-paced' city in everyday life than Miami-Dade. Longboat Key is a gem and St. Armand's circle also, fantastic. I have to compliment the architects, engineers, & labor, who work amazing miracles in Florida. On a sunny evening at Pier 66 or sailing to Elliot Key can be 'perfecto'. It has it's charms, Florida does.

I used to live on FMB back in 1997 when it was way more affordable! My old apartment that was build in 1960 ,made it through Hurricane π Ian.

I will go down to Bonita Beach and drive up the island to not pay that $15 toll. Hopefully the Resort will help clean things up including the water.

Sound like a tour guide π³

Thank you so much for the current video! πβ€οΈποΈ

Why is this area taking so long to recover? I realize it was a bad hurricane, but Florida always has bad hurricanes and seems to miraculously recover and with amazing speed.
-
Amazing how FMB has rebuilt. Naples havenβt even rebuilt their pier yet.
-
Sounds like a bunch of names your Grandpa would have slept withπππππ love itβ€

They probably will give the workers on the beach a pass so they don't have to pay the tolls that would make more sense
-
EEEOUUU! WHAT'S THAT SMELL?

Went on Fort Myers Beach August 2023, and never had seen it so desolate. There seemed to be a shortage of workers to help clean things up, so rebuilding can start. It's not a quick process; it takes a long time. I'm glad to see some improvement, but like I said it''ll take a long time to fully recover. The locals I am sure would be against a toll going there. Let it be what it was before. Just stronger buildings built to withstand the wind and water.
