Cyrusher XF690 electric mountain bike practising low speed figure of eight turns on the throttle

Took my recently acquired Cyrusher XF690 folding electric mountain bike to a local park today to work on my low speed riding skills.

I've bought this bike to play about on bumpy trails rather than long distance rides, and I'll be spending a lot of time standing on the pedals and using the throttle in a trials or enduro riding style.

It's thirty years since I've ridden a trials bike, and five years since I've ridden a bicycle, and there is some re-acquiring of skills to be done, so I thought I needed to get some basic low-speed figure of eight turns into my muscle memory.

I've put some foam on the crossbar because I spend quite a lot of time sitting on it, and the crossbar clamp from the folding mechanism was giving me a nasty bruise on my leg. I' m just over 5'10" and I find this a big bike. Standing with both feet on the ground the crossbar is right in my crotch., so if you have shorter legs you really might struggle with this bike. Make sure you try before you buy.

Off road I lower the seat to it's lowest position to keep it out of the way. I do normally wear a helmet but was so busy trying to remember what video equipment to take with me today that I rather foolishly forgot it.

Spoiler alert - this video starts off not particularly interesting and doesn't get any more exciting the longer you watch it.

good idea and great to practice the slow manoeuvres. I need to do similar !
  • Yes, a great drill. I need to do similar. I remember doing it with a motorbike a few years ago. Muscle memory is right. Well worth your time, I'm sure.

You should be able to go slower and make tighter turns? (I haven't ridden an ebike) In motorcycle trials you can go MUCH slower by keeping the chain tight by using the back brake. Edit: oops, I just saw you do trials 😄
