Designed for a well-travelled client who enjoys the comfort and luxury of hotel suites, Vin Leong of Haelycyon Days adapted hotel design principles for this central Singapore apartment, creating a functional space that maximises storage and livability. Amongst Leong’s key additions to the space was a full height, integrated storage wall at the entrance clad in a dramatic dark wood green laminate as well as a hidden glass sliding door separating the entryway from the kitchen, preventing smells and smoke from escaping into the living area. Here, the original polished marble floors were honed for a more contemporary matte finish, while a neutral colour palette creates a blank canvas for carefully selected furniture to stand out. This theme continues in the bedroom, where a wall of seamless white panelling with hidden handles houses ample storage and wardrobe space. A cleverly placed mirror in the corner of the bedroom gives the illusion of added depth. With this thoughtful execution, Vin Leong has created a functional and clutter free space for his client to enjoy.

One of the most successfully 'small' apartments I've seen. It feels so spacious and luxurious without being pretentious or over the top. Just when you think it's too much, the contrast of those dark wood panels just soften the space perfectly. I'm in awe 😍
  • FINALLY, a designer who understands the need to close off the kitchen! I'm convinced that the people who love open concept kitchens don't actually cook because if they did, they would know what it's like to have all of your living and sleeping spaces smelling like yesterday's dinner. The lines are clean and simple, and the spaces are either airy and light or calm and cool. I would like to see some greenery somewhere just to create warmth and life, but otherwise, it's really lovely!

The space is MAGNIFICENT!!!!! The moody yet calming entryway is amazing. The main living space is flooded with light. Gives such an airy and light feel to the space. All the storage is a PLUS when living in a compact area. I absolutely loved the new layout. Made so much more sense. Bedrooms should be private areas of the home NOT a pass through. Architect did a PHENOMENAL job. WELL DONE!!!
  • one on the better apartments i have seen on never too small ... clean lines, good storage and functional well done!

Gosh, I would hire Vin Leong if I lived in Singapore! Beautifully executed. Very refined and functional. This is one of the best small spaces I have seen on YouTube.

Avoiding clutter. Great kitchen because there is No clutter! No hanging spoons, knives, pots or pans, cups or onions, and fruit bowls! Bravo to that kitchen space.

Lighting is EVERYTHING in this amazing apartment! The amount of thought that’s gone into all the design details, especially the lighting and storage has created a highly functional and beautiful modern space! Personally I’d add a few more plants ! 💐🥰
  • This is extremely well done for several reasons. Maximizing storage without it being obvious. Extremely clean lines and a feeling of luxury and calm. The only thing lacking IMO is more counter space in the kitchen; but by cooking food needing few ingredients you can get around this. I like having the bathroom sink faucet on the right-hand side. People think they need more space which isn't true. It's how to maximize space that is most important. Vin Leong you should win an award! The owner is a very lucky person who clearly knew what he wanted.

Love the dark entrance. And then the uber white living spaces 😍 Great design!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ The apartment exudes an understated elegance and sophistication without sacrificing comfort or function. Magnificent design, which allows a cohesive but practical living for a single individual or a couple.

Okay, this is amazing. After a long time, I have seen a minimalistic space, that is well thought out and isn't bland or soulless. Everything is so well laid out, that it just makes sense. Love the idea that every space gives you a different vibe yet complement each other.

The only thing missing is a balcony, but apart from that: PERFECT.

55sqm sounds like luxury to me nowadays
  • @lishoymathew
So amazing that people can take such a small living space and make it look so amazing

The designer Vin Leong did such wonderful job with this, love that he recreated the blank canvas layout to maximise the space to be more functional and practical vs the original design whereby folks have to access through the bedroom to get to bathroom. The minimalist has soul and class, smart choice of using mirror to give illusion of depth!! Bravo!

If you've regularly stayed in business-class hotels while traveling around the world, you know that hotel design is some of the most elegant, peaceful, and functional design you will ever encounter. A very beautiful and useful way to organize a small space, with maximum storage so the space never feels cluttered. Storage is not cheap though, but worth the cost-benefit.
  • So much well thought out storage covering all the household needs without bending under beds and floors. Excellent choice of mirrors and furniture. Well done.
  • The way the tall cabinets flow up made the place look so tall and spacious. Great design!
