My mum was part of the Women's land army in Hampshire during the second World War. She still has her release certificate which is framed on the wall of her care home home. We used to say about her growing up " Don't worry about mum, she's bomb proof". She will be 99 in October. Thanks for a very touching video Kirsten and Joerg.

We should not forget but so glad that Britain and Germany are friends and close allies these days. I loved the cottage and almost could imagine the ladies of the land army shattered after a day on the land , relaxing by the fire in the cottage.

This cottage was a lovely reminder of a world gone by. I think, as long as we preserve these ornaments and objects they will stay in our memory as a gift for future generations. You did a great job of filming it in such a detail. 😊

The cottage tour was so interesting! What perfect timing for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Thank-you Land Girls for your service!

Thank you so much. I am almost 82 and remember so many of the products in the land girls house! I remember the kitchen cabinet and the stove too! such fun to watch

They have done their homework with regard to this cottage: it is a museum. This is so important for the generations ongoing. Thank you for showing us so many details. Stepping back in time. Women's effort in wartime has been quite amazing.❤💐

Grandpa had a landgirl working on his farm. Ivy Holman became our 'Aunty' Ivy. Loved this episode...fond memories...the Tell Me game in the chest of drawers, and the split rubber hose for showering from the down spout bath taps... and so much more! Thank you 🎉
  • Yvonne DeCarlo was a Canadian/American actress, singer and dancer. She appeared in films and in the 1960s starred in the TV series The Munsters as Lilly, the vampiress. I loved her as Moses' wife in The Ten Commandments.

I was born in October 1945 just 2 weeks after the war ended. This time capsule reminded me of so many items that were common while I was growing up. What a treat! Thanks for the memories!❤
  • I supported ladies who were in the Land Army. They were super proud of the work they did feeding the nation. Great video.

I was 3 years old, I saw this stranger approaching our house. He opened the door and entered--it was my older brother coming home from serving in the army.
  • My grandfather was a farmer , sent to war for 5 years , my grandmother had land girls staying , one day a German soldier landed in the field and the girls made a grab for his silk parachute, my mum was only young but remembers getting a piece of silk . The home guard came and took the German. ❤

I love the upstairs bedroom, perfect for 2 children having a fun night.

How wonderful that such an evocative house has been preserved for posterity. A trip down memory for a boy born in 1950. A lovely video.

So unlike all the other places you've stayed at. I'm 66 years old and the decor sweeps me back to homes in the late '50s and even into the '60s that still looked so much like that.

Such a lovely cottage!..We all owe so much to the land girls!..
  • Hi Kirsten and Joerg, from Australia. My Mother was a member of the Australian Women's Land Army for the duration of WW11. It was so lovely to see your video today. It brought some lovely memories of stories told to me by my mother and her life long Australian Women's Land Army friends. Sadly now they are all no longer with us. They stayed in some rather primitive accommodation in some parts of Australia, having to stuff their mattresses with hay to keep warm at night. However there was a wonderful comradery amongst them, 0:06 which remained for their entire lives. I am the beneficiary of many letters between my Mum and Dad during this time, which have given me an insight into their thoughts and feelings of a young courting couple, separated by war, at this time. Mum gave a great description of events in the Land Army in her letters to Dad, her then boyfriend. I must confess to only reading them once after my Mum passed and then putting them back into the tin in which Mum kept them safe for all those years. (She even painted it a lovely blue covered with white daisies.) I felt it too intrusive to reread them but I feel as if I now knew a part of them unknown to me beforehand. Jusr so you know, they had a wonderfully long happy marriage together. ❤❤ So thank you again for your video today. 😊

This is one of of the most fun cottages you've shown it's like a living museum, so cozy and beautiful!
  • I will have to say, I've been so entertained with all your adventurous travels and stays, but today takes the 🎂!!!! What a interesting informative peek into another long-gone Era. Thank you both for making so many of us happy to come along❤
