WORK IN PROGRESS: Images of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring

Published 2008-09-21
This is the start of a project I am considering for my Collaborative Projects in Performing Arts class at NYU.

Ever since I first saw the original "Fantasia", I have always been fascinated with the visual possibilities of The Rite of Spring. Even though Stravinsky himself has called the piece "absolute music", one cannot listen to this piece without imagining or conjuring up a wealth of compelling, striking images. I am hoping to develop this project into a complete curriculum that I can utilize in my own Music classes...I would like to try a similar approach with pieces by Bartok, Debussy, Palestrina, and John Adams, to name a few. Enjoy!!!
