Oh i found that glitch with little mario throwing fireballs way back in the early 90s. I had to have kids come to my house and prove I wasnt lying about it. I miss the days before the internet.

1:02 - I love how the music that starts at this point is a cover of the music from the NES game Deja Vu. I loved that game!
  • Thanks for watching. This video features some sarcasm, dancing, and some awesome Super Mario Bros. glitches! I hope you enjoy it. Let me know if you'd like to see more Old School glitches. YOU ROCK!!! :D

I remember back when I did the Little Fire Mario glitch for the first time without knowing of it's existence, and me and my brother lost our minds over it.

By far the best glitch in this game hands down is the 1-UP glitch. My dad passed that one down to me after he figured it out in the late 80’s

How did I miss this video? Just popped up in my recommendations. Awesome work on this one!
  • I laughed at the part where Mario rescues Toad but by dying and where Toad says “Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle! And your dead!!” 😂😂😂

In case anyone's curious here's how the -1 clip works; When hitting a certain pixel on a block mario tries to stand on it for a frame (1/60 of a second) If big mario is crouched in a 1 block space, and he uncrouches, and clips up. If you're not still holding down and hit that pixel, mario will uncrouch, and clip into the wall

Your first one I encountered by accident as small Mario. I ended up killing bowser and flying towards the princess thus saving her and falling through the grey bricks below at the same time. I did not lose a life and continued onto the next level. Probably the coolest glitch I’ve ever seen.

5:08 - This trick works because the game unloads/disables the invisible walls on top and the bottom of the flagpole. The game does this to ensure that the Koopa doesn't get stuck beneath the level. 7:45 - This one works because the game has an enemy state counter in it's code. The running to the right after killing the first Goomba basically unloads it right away. Next up, when you suddenly turn left to hit the other Goomba, the game thinks it's the same one. Your timing needs to be precise as shown in the video. Because the game treats it as the same Goomba with a death Boolean variable turned to true WHILE IT'S ACTUALLY ALIVE, the game kinda doesn't know what to do and increases the enemy state counter (probably a logical error in the programming), a state-counter being something the game uses to load/unload enemies and objects from a list.

It's cool to see Old School Mario Glitches, but it's even cooler to see Old School Youtube Videos like this 😊
  • The deadly victory (or whatever you call it) was sometimes a glitch leading to another 2 glitches: extending the victory music inside a castle(it is like Mario is fighting below the lava) and the death music in the end of that castle victory music(thus Mario was considered as dead and restart the castle level instead of continuing to another level). I guess that glitch has a perfect time in which you wish to hope to continue to another level instead of dying in the end of the castle victory music. I still had fun doing the tiny fire Mario glitch while I discovered that you can walk under the floor using that koopa walk under the floor glitch(It was hard doing it actually because you had to time it right without falling down the pit obviously. Think of the stuck Mario glitch and 1up glitch without the 1up points combined). You forgot the star powerup music glitch when reaching the flagpole before the star powerup subsides. You can do that glitch only in 1-1 by letting the star powerup 'jump' to the right until it reaches a block of stairs. Then get the star powerup and run as fast as you can until you reach the flagpole to finish the level. As the star powerup subsides(so is the star powerup music by timing it right), the starting level music is played rather than the finish level music. Nintendo itself would just laugh at its work having glitches like that when that game hit the top spots in the past.
