Thanks everyone for checking out the video! Just wanna give a huge shoutout to the Pianote team for doing such an incredible job - they made my job easy!
-
Man, I love watching hyper competent people doing their thing.
-
I'll never fail to be impressed at how jazz musicians can re-harmonise so quickly on the fly. Even though I've been a musician nearly all of my life, I'm not studying it professionally, so I'll never come close.
-
What a completely different feel he brought to the record. I have no idea how someone can reach for harmonies like that so quickly.
-
Not sure what impresses me the most, the extremely musical approach to an extremely popular song, or the fact that he never heard it before. Amazing video!
-
They gave him that blank canvas and bro started cooking some HEAT!
-
4:44 that harmony ELEVATED me
-
The chords he picked for the "I'm all good already, So moved on, it's scary, I'm not where you left me at all," section gave those lyrics a whole new meaning and feel. Genius.
-
1000% best artist youāve had. He was so musical in his interpretation yet didnāt feel the need to show off his chops. His version of the song was actually pretty sick in itself! Seems a great personality too. Hope thereās more vids to come as I would love to know a little more about his approach to keyboards e.g. even just playing 2 diff keyboards/synths at once. Overall sick episode folks!!!!!!!

Justin Stanton is a mad genius; His harmonic voice is so strong and true to himself in everything he plays. The reharm he did there at 4:45 was absolute madness.
-
Somebody should release this as a single. It is so funky, and the chords are almost extra terrestrialā¦. I could imagine hearing this in a club, or on the radio or wherever, and I think you would be hard pushed to not want to move your feet.
-
The way he really tried to serve the music the best he could is amazing. A truly dedicated person. There is nothing about his ego in this great arrangement. Every note, every syncopation, is gently lifting the melody and taking it to some beautiful musical places.

Pianote: Hey wanna jam on this vocal piece Justin Stanton: gives iconic masterclass

Been a fan of Justinās work in Snarky Puppy for a minute but his debut record āsecret placeā absolutely floored me. His keyboard chops are next level, not to mention his trumpet playing. Looking forward to his next solo release.

Justin's approach explains why snarky puppy is so good
-
Gah!!! Is there a final version of the Justin Stanton mix?!?! I WANT IT!!!
-
Awesome! Goes to show that jazz/funk ears can hear jazz/funk in just about anything. Those chromatic passages were so tasty.
-
Crazy š¤Æ
-
"I do not know this song!" Then turns it into a complete BANGER!! š

Justin is (a huge part of) the heart and soul of Snarky. So many others get noticed for their wild solos and moments and heās just there holding it down for everyone else. Props to the rhythm sections in all bands!!!
