  • Hey, your not the only one, I had exactly the same problem, but I didn’t know I had diabetes it sort of appeared with out me knowing…. Basically my episode happened at the beginning of Covid, I caught Covid in hospital, I was in ICU for 5days then 24days on ward…. Hospital wasn’t a good place where I was, a full lock down happened he could not walk out of the ward, everyone was quarantined, not a nice experience and what we all saw, rest in peace for those not here today….. I can’t get the images out of my head which are still fresh today, I thank my hospital because they saved my life, I was told I had less than 10mins of life left… now I’m ok and healthy with various medications, thanks for this video, I hope your ok now and learning more about diabetes 👍🏻

I am T1, diagnosed 1/18/1985 - I know, the dark ages. Just after my 17th birthday. Had my 39th diaversary in 2024. There were no insulin pumps back then. CGMs were not even a dream. Night-time blood sugar crashes occurred frequently. Only had beef and pork insulins (I actually saved my first R and N vials and still have them today). No quick acting insulin. The R insulin took about 2 hours to start working, N was your basal dose, lasting about 12 hours. Blood tests took about 2 minutes. Drop of blood on a test strip, wait a minute, then run the strip under water & blot dry. Then wait another minute. Finally compare the strip with a color chart on the strip vial to guess your sugar level. You'd be lucky to guess within 100 points of your actual blood sugar results. Things are so much easier now, but this condition still blows. Best of luck to your future!

I too am a type 1 diabetic since 1994. The best thing I could do for myself is get the Dexcon g6 and Omiepod. They work great together. Liked your video. I'm glad your doing better. Every day is a struggle to keep your blood sugar at range. You can do it just be strong.

What a beautiful, intelligent and well spoken young woman you are! Thanks for having the courage to post your story. I am also a type 1 diabetic. Sometimes I don't feel like "owning" my diabetes or feel ashamed for some stupid reason. So happy you have a diagnosis (so many misdiagnosed) and the love and support of your family. You got this love!

Keelin I was diagnosed at around your age and they too told me I made to the hospital just in time otherwise I would have gone into a coma. Stay strong you got this. Look forward to hearing about your Omnipod experience... I’ve been a T1D for 35+ years. Also, I’m not sure if you are familiar with “shesdiabetic” YouTube account, but she is such a good resource and fun to watch.
