In this movie, Mon and I tell more in detail why we took our cooking class online and how we did it.
In March 2020, Covid finally hit in Thailand and after a few months in which we enjoyed the quiet and spending time with our kids, we realized that we had to take action, otherwise our bank account will be empty soon.
We have decided to try online cooking classes. Mon practiced talking in front of the camera a few times and then we just did it. We posted on Instagram and Facebook that we are about to go online and posted a schedule.
We also found an amazing camera man to join our team, Magnus from Lanta Life Media (look up his channel on YouTube for more info) and together we started Mon's YouTube channel called COOKING WITH MON.
A few weeks later we started doing online cooking classes. The classes go very well and we get booked more and more. Mon is getting more comfortable talking in front of the camera and he manages to interact with his guests in the same way like before.
After a few months, we contact our lovely guests Jannette from Google in Hamburg, to ask her if we could do a cooking class for Google. Jannette thinks it is a great idea, and it turns out she is also in Google's culture team, so she is able to organise this event with us.
Different than the classes we did previous, where the participants would buy their own ingredients, Google asked us to include the ingredients in the package.
So we googled Thai supermarket in Hamburg and found the lovely Pi Dao, who was happy to to work with us to make it work. She made bags with the ingredients and delivered the bags to the participants' houses before the class. Her work was very professional and both sides enjoyed working together to make this project succeed.
In this movie you can see the story of our cooking class and specifically Google's class told through different perspectives.
It starts with Mon practicing in front of the camera for the first time in October 2020, then Maayan and Magnus tell their story, and then Jannette from Google and Dao from Sukhothai Asia Markt tell their part of the story.
The movie ends with the actual cooking class to give the audience an idea of how Mon is doing this online cooking class, the fun and the amount of interaction involved.
I hope you enjoyed our little documentary of how we managed to take our cooking class online.
