An original song about Vox, the TV overlord, featuring originally created backing music, sound design, voice acted story and artwork.

Another song, another milestone. This time, I've finally delved into creating a piece of original music in the Hazbin universe, centred around a character who's become one of my favourites for his visual design and the potential of what his role and circumstances could bring to the show.

The general idea for the song was to show how Vox is a controlling business man who uses electronics and his powers to get what he wants. He can see the desires of others through their devices and their data, he can manipulate what they read and buy and his name is on everything as we saw in Alastor's comic. And yet, as was shown on the Instagram accounts, even he isn't able to escape the whims of someone who can be just as controlling and manipulative. While this concept was rendered non-canon with time, I really liked this idea.

As a fan of the harder ranges of electronic music that often are underappreciated, I decided to base the song primarily around Hardstyle. It's a genre that is just as comfortable creating harsh and tough driving soundscapes as it is creating Trance-like melodies and structure. I felt this reflected Vox as a character quite well, having reached the position of overlord with his feeds and powers but also not being completely machine-like.

And finally, a MASSIVE thanks to Ayyy-Imma-Ninja for helping me with the original commissioned artwork for this piece. She worked with me on every step to create the appropriate setups for the story parts of the project and her attention to detail in every aspect from shading to expressions is superb. Please check out her links below and give her all the love for her skills in art, animatics and more.

This. Was. OUTSTANDING. Not only was the music good but the lyrics were exceptionally well written! So was the story! I know how difficult it is to create something from scratch, and the nerves that follow when it comes to sharing it, but this was incredible!! It shows just how talented you are!! I was waiting for the climax of the story, and it was as heartbreaking and stunning as I expected it to be, even though I knew it was coming. Poor guy, really. Vox has all this power, but no matter what strength he has, he will always be trapped under Valentino's heel. Vox has control over so much, but the one thing he doesn't have control over is what he does with Val. Bravo and amazing work as always, DJ!! Thanks again for letting me be part of this!

its impressive you made an entire song out of a character who has canonacly said nothing
  • @Velg
Funny how the dynamic is actually Vox trying to keep Val in line 😂
  • I love how the song starts out like “Look I’m so powerful and rich” and ends in “I’m in a toxic abusive relationship with a psychopath who is manipulating and gaslighting me help”
  • @Banana_Bunch...
Its funny that in the actual show Vox is much more influential on Val than here where Val actually owns Vox
  • vivziepop after making addict: "There's no way they can hate Valentino any more then this!" You: "Upgrades, people, Upgrades..."
  • It's funny how whiny val actually is in the show. Like... he's a bad person. But he's clearly not a leader.
  • @AsterJennifer
Can't believe now that Hazbin actually dropped, that their roles have always been the other way around 💀
  • @Xeorboom
I love how "you belong to V" is assumed to be Vox but at the end it's revealled that "V" is Valentino!
  • @tinakietzer7760
That end HURT. The ONE thing Vox doesn't control.... Makes me feel bad for him.
  • @MrMoros1
What kind of sticks out to me most with Valentino abusing Vox is that it was stated by Vivzie that Vox is the STRONGEST of the three V's and Valentino is the weakest. Really goes to show just how an abusive relationship can leave you trapped more psychologically than physically.
  • fun fact, Vivziepop wanted Mark Hamill to voice Vox. I'd really like to see Mark sing this as Vox lmao. that'd be a sight to see
  • @sam_meal
The lyrics "A monster I'm in love with, despite all the pain" really twisted my guts and broke my heart honestly
  • Idc how much this doesnt line up with how the show turned out, i LOVE IT
  • I don’t know why, but when he says, “And I’m the one who killed the radio” it just sends a chill up my spine
  • "I'm the one who killed the radio" if that is reference to "who killed the radio star" that's genius. Also the wordplay with you belong to "V" being Vox but actually Valentino is really smart
  • @eora5142
3:23 I absolutely love that little "Mh?" Vox makes when Valentino calls him; it's clear Vox was so into what he was doing, feeling powerful and cool and all, that he doesn't immediately connect the voice to Valentino and that to being in trouble
  • @Lightmaster677
Despite the fact that Val and Vox's relationship turns out to be more leaning towards Vox in terms of control, I love the fact that this still gets Vox's general role in Hell absolutely spot-on, what with him able to hypnotize and control others via his screens.
  • @chaosking8916
I’m just thinking about how painful the would be for vox, that’s basically like having your skull cracked and having your brain damaged because you can hear sparking like some wires are cut kinda like how damaged nerves may randomly activate and electrically pulse
  • The juxtaposition between Vox‘s „You belong to V“ in blue and his „I belong to V“ in red made me shiver, holy shit. That was so well done.
