If you have never changed out a 4 foot long T5, T8, or T12 Fluorescent light bulb it can be a bit confusing. I will demonstrate how to remove the cover, identify the bad bulb, change with a new bulb, and determine if there is something else wrong.

DAMN!!! I kidded myself I came to YouTube for this, but I learned SO much. Even at age 70, you can still learn things about stuff you've done your whole life!!!

I want to thank you so much for this video. I am a widow and naturally my kitchen florescent lights went out. It took me a few days to get my courage up to tackle this and because of your video, it really was easy and painless. The hardest part was getting up on the ladder. LOL. Thank you again and I am a new subscriber to your videos......

THANK YOU! Clear and to-the-point! With the cost of living so high, no handymen available, and my hubby's back going out, I'll be doing a lot more of this stuff myself. I appreciate your help!

Thank you, the 90* turn was clutch for me. Almost broke the light trying to take it out, before it clicked, it can’t be this difficult. Video saved me a bloody hand. Thanks!! 🙏

Having done a work-study job while in college which had me relamping all fluorescent lamp bulbs in my city (we replaced 40W tubes to 34W, a 15% energy savings which also was partially-incentivized by the local electric company), I’d only add when putting in a new tube, make sure its fully-seated inside the fixture terminals on both sides by SLIGHTLY pulling downwards on the ends so it “clicks” into place (CAREFUL: don’t break the tube!). This helps ensure the two pins on each end of tube make maximal contact with the recessed holder, thus avoiding “hot spots” in the connections (so although the tube may light up as expected, the reduced contact area may lead to higher resistance as oxidation builds up, reducing the life of the new bulb(s) & leading to premature failure).
  • This is a lifesaver! I would've been lost trying to figure it out on my own, but once I had a few tips it was an easy 3 minute job 👍
  • Thank you so much for your very clear explanation and instructions. I’m alone and it gets so hard to get these little things done around the house. I appreciate you!
  • Thank you so much. My granddaughters and I successfully changed all 4 bulbs. I also appreciate the information about the new LED plug and play bulbs.

Replaced an old 4 foot, 2 bulb fluorescent fixture over my work bench with a new LED fixture 2 days ago. It's much lighter weight and brighter but the bulbs are non removable. Recently subscribed to your channel & it's been very helpful.

Thank you so much for the info on the sizing. I've never changed one but think even I could do it. Thanks again.
  • I just came across your site as I have a project. You speak very well and present everything clearly both orally & visually. Also you present your material/lesson at a comfortable pace for anyone to follow. I subscribed today and I wish I had found your site earlier. Thank you. Very well done.

Thank you so much. All four of my lights went out in my master closet. My roommate used to do that kind of stuff. I was scared to do it but your explanation was perfect and I finally have my lights. Thank you!!
