I wasn't going to focus on it but it's become too hard to really ignore

You know why Snow White was dreaming of true love? It was because she received none from her stepmother The Evil Queen. The Evil Queen showed absolute cruelty to Snow White, and it was her own jealousy that drove her desire to kill Snow White. So of course Snow White would want someone to love her wholeheartedly.

To think Snow White is a story about finding a man instead of persevering through hardships and abuse while still remaining a kind and hopeful person is baffling to me

If you truly want to tell a new story with snow white, focus on her relationship with the dwarfs, focus on how she and the prince built a romance, focus on her relationshio with the evil queen before her parents died or why her parents died, why is the queen jealous of a child and how deep is that wound that she turns to murder as a solution. Show sides of the story we haven't seen before. Show the deep messages in it that was limited to be developed more because of the lack of tecnology in animation (of the original) or surface level interpretation that other live action remakes had through the years

For the actress to think that since Snow White is a soft, gentle, kind, and skilled in a lot of domestic work person and not a cruel, badass, calculated, girlboss and Snow White being such makes her a disappointment to all woman to the point needed fixing is problematic in itself. Woman don’t have to be this crazy iron-fisted leader in order to be valuable as woman. Woman can be soft and gentle like Snow White, or just ordinary and regular people like in Barbie. The problem isn’t “snow white becomes cool leader”, the problem is thinking “since snow white isn’t cool leader, she is a failure of a woman”. To think she needs fixing just because she fits certain woman stereotypes is a problem this whole “badass girlboss no nonsense leader” narrative has made.

"She's not going to dream about true love, she's going to dream about being a leader" Hey, did you know? That you can do both? I'm getting so tired of people looking down on teenage girls dreaming of finding The One when it's actually very realistic! The animated Snow White was 14! Ariel is 16! Teenagers think about love and romance a lot because a new and exciting world has opened up to them! I'm getting so tired of this "you can have a boyfriend OR you can be a girlboss" mentality. WHY NOT BOTH?! These movies are basically saying "if you're not an independent girlboss who doesn't care about love at all and doesn't need any help ever, especially from a MAN, then you're a failure as a woman." These are not empowering, these are cruel, mocking and gatekeeping. You can empower women AND have them yearn for love at the same time. If you want to write about a "badass independent girlboss" then WRITE AN ORIGINAL MOVIE???? The Snow White story is literally about Snow White, the queen and the dwarves. It's not about being an "amazing leader", it's about an insane woman so vain, she gets jealous of a child. Stop taking existing stories and mangling them so they don't resemble the original anymore at all. They don't care about adapting Snow White, they care about brownie points. Except they chose the WORST story to change the ethnicity of the main character. What kind of an insane person looks at a character named after her pale skin and goes "we should make her tan"?? Her name doesn't make any sense anymore!! I'm not against race swapping but ONLY when it makes sense. Changing Snow White's skin color doesn't make sense.

The fact that disney uses diversity for brownie points instead of to tell new and inspiring stories is frustrating. We dont want stories that are "diverse" just so disney looks good.

Walt had balls of steel to pretty much gamble everything he had to get the original Snow White made, when everyone around him was saying it was a bad idea. Imagine if Snow White flopped? Walt would have been bankrupt, forced to close his studio, be unable to keep his mortgaged house and likely on the street. That's an insane amount of confidence to put in your movie.
  • @GenericJake
What is wrong with “true love” as a motivation? Love is one of the most powerful emotions humans have. Are these people so cynical that they just don’t believe in good and love anymore? It’s always POWER to them
  • @ALROD
Rachel's facial expressions are very telling. I do hope this movie flops, as well as all shitty reboots Disney has been releasing.
  • @DrTimes99
It's interesting that people look at the Prince in Snow White like he somehow saved her. Like, yes his kiss did break the sleeping curse, but his role is nothing more than a prize she is rewarded with at the end of the film for staying a good person through-out her terrible life.

To be fair, Snow White (1937) is very outdated because in the 1930s animation was more about the spectacle, the experience and the mood rather than a solid story so if you want to adapt it for modern audiences it requires some major changes, but a gaslight gatekeep girlboss half assed remake is not what it needs
  • @shadowm2k7
whether or not you agree with Halle Bailey as Ariel, she is a lovely person. Her press tours were some of the most graceful, kindest, princess energy I've ever witnessed from a person in my entire life, she will go far with her career Rachael Z on the other hand is a nightmare @_@ she's acting like Cinderella's ugly step sisters. She isn't honoring the role she is in whatsoever
  • @oranjaglad8648
The fact that they literally missed the point of Snow White’s name actually baffles me.
  • @ChrisJFilms
If Snow White would have failed, then Disney would have gone bankrupt, and if Disney would have went bankrupt, then they wouldn’t still be around today, and if they weren’t still around today then she wouldn’t have a job right now. If there’s one thing that I really hate, it’s entitlement.
  • I think it is appalling and utterly revolting that Peter Dinklage decided to complain about Dwarfism representation and told Disney to cut the dwarves and keep him as the only little person. Is he too demented or just too famous to realize there are thousands of actors with Dwarfism that could play the dwarves appropriately and possibly better than Dinklage ever could? It's disrespectful and even more disrespectful because Dinklage is turning against his own people to boost his stardom
  • @Tristan_Shuler
Rachel: “Look! Look! We’re replacing white princess with Latina princess. We’re so progressive!” Elena of Avalor: “Am I a joke to you.”
  • I can live with Zegler not liking Snow White as a kid because she thought it looked scary. I can live with her not liking the prince that only has 5 minutes of screen time, I can live with her not liking romance stories but I can't give her a pass on spreading misinformation. A man notices a girl he finds attractive and then flirts with her right after noticing her and continues after she responds in kind. It's not stalking! JLongbone made a great response. Or how the Dwarfs living in caves is a harmful stereotype. Even tho the Dwarfs live in a cottage and they just work as miners. And Dwarfs from European folklore and people with dwarfism are two different things. It's so obvious these people haven't seen the movie ever or since when they were kids and if they see the movie recently they really weren't paying attention. If they want to bash the original can't they even make sure what they're talking about is true? It just shows how lazy those remakes are. Like she said, ''It's not 1930 anymore'', can't she do a Google search?

I’m sick of these girl boss agendas.: I fear what it’s going to do to the next generations of girls.. when I was a teen I had to deal with the society standard of beauty is thinness.. now my daughter who is 1 will have to worry about being Hollywoods version of beautiful, independent, “strong”, oh and now she will also have to be a leader 😵‍💫
  • @daphne8406
I find race swapping of existing characters sooo insulting 😑 They clearly show they have absolutely zero interest in true and existing poc histories and fairy tales and princesses. So to pander to those that say Disney princess line up is too white, they just make an already existing princess a poc instead of making an individual true poc character. It’s insulting 🤷‍♀️ For the rest, they clearly haven’t understood the core or the message of the source material 😑 Which makes them look lazy and ignorant. A woman does not have to reject love and romance in order to be able to be strong 😑 Such an outdated notion. A woman can be strong and still be girly, want love, want to be domestic. It is not becessary to want to be a warrior, be a leader, have a career as the only way to be perceived as strong 🤷‍♀️ You know what is the best selling book genre in the world? Yup, romance 😝
  • @Pierceson-up8fs
Disney honestly should just scrap it. Live action remakes are clearly on the decline, and getting as much bad publicity as this isn’t going to make it any better. It’s still unfathomable to me how much Disney has fallen from grace in just four years. Completely deserved
