Making a Minecraft Sword from Real Wood

Published 2020-02-06
This is the first part of a two-part series where I will be building some Minecraft Tools, check out the previous build where I made a Pixel Pickaxe:    • Making a Minecraft Pickaxe from Real ...

The process is rather simple but time-consuming with the number of individual glue-ups.
I chose two similar kinds of wood like Oak and Maple for the blade and the inside of the handle. Then a contrasting wood like Walnut for the handle.

The size and scale of the Sword were not overly important, but I did end up creating 20mm cubes, so no matter what size you choose, do some rough drawings to scale and make sure that you end up with a size that you like. The Sword that I built was 16 squares tall.

I hope you enjoyed this one, and please if you haven’t already, please like 👍 and subscribe 😁

That ending made my day 😂! My son asked me to make one and after a little scouring through the internet I think I like your method best so far. Great work!

I am not familiar with minecraft but from what I have seen, it is based on old school pixel images. That being said, you did a wonderful job! Brings back games from my era! Thank you!!!!
  • Nice work man, really impressed. I made a diamond sword awhile ago as a pinata smasher for my sons birthday using a totally different technique. You far surpassed my method in terms of raw craftsmanship and creativity! Congrats! I love the little bit at the end, honestly felt like minecraft there for a sec!

The clamping challenges you had to over come, well done sir.

Oh nice! That was a lot of work, but totally worth it!
