  • I just discovered this pianist. Is it normal to watch her videos over and over again, obsessively? I'm deeply in awe of her artistic performance on these Beethoven Sonatas.

Beethoven felt the music. This is why it was profound, and why it has resonated with so many people over the years. His music is timeless!

I learned to play this piece but I did not like it much until I heard this rendition by Valentina Lisitsa. Now that I know what it is supposed to sound like, I love it and I am inspired to practice more.
  • The range of emotions I feel as I listen is so extraordinary
  • I love how Beethoven baits us twice about the recapitulation : 3:20 "ok the first theme comes back, the end comes soon" 3:26 "nah actually it's more development" 4:13 "ok NOW it's the recapitulation." 4:20 "see? it's the whole theme this time" ... 4:27 "or is it ?" 4:37 "MORE DEVELOPMENT"

Valentina Lisitsa’s playing allowed me to enjoy Beethoven. Before her I thought it was too bombastic. With her gentle transitions finally I see the genius.

Valentina is clearly on a league of her own. It is absolutely mind blowing, the accuracy, speed, feeling, interpretation... Beyond words! 11/10
  • When I was younger me and other piano students always used to listen to Lisitsa's playing ,every time we searched up a piece we were currently studying ,Lisitsa would pop up the first . Nowadays it doesnt show up that much (so youtube should do a better job!) , but yeah she became our role model (she still is) <3

I do think this is the most beautiful thing I’ve heard in a long time.

I have watched Valentina's videos for years, and they never fail to bring tears to my eyes. The lightness and grace with which she plays is one of a kind. I have loved Beethoven since childhood; in my first few years, I'm told, I would cry if my parents played me any other music. And when I heard Valentina play his music in adulthood, I thought: "This is how these songs are supposed to be played. This is what Beethoven meant when he wrote these notes." Truly amazing, Valentina Lisitsa.

I don't know why emotions are stirred so deeply when I listen to her I think it's because I'm so proud of humanity for creating music like this it brings tears to my eyes
