Flashdance is a 1983 romantic drama film directed by Adrian Lyne. The story follows Alex Owens, a welder by day and exotic dancer by night with dreams of becoming a professional ballet dancer. Alex faces numerous challenges as she juggles her job, her passion for dance, and her complicated romantic relationship with her boss, Nick Hurley. As she auditions for prestigious dance schools, Alex must confront her fears and insecurities while striving to achieve her dreams against all odds. The film is celebrated for its iconic dance sequences, including the memorable audition scene set to the song "What a Feeling," and its exploration of ambition, identity, and the pursuit of one's passions.
