Built in the 1980s, the North Haven Marina is about 7km North of Semaphore and 20km from Adelaide city or just over a 30 minute drive. North Haven Marina lies within the suburb of North Haven, which is part of the Port Adelaide Enfield Council. North Haven is bounded on the east and south by Osbourne - home to ASC Pty Ltd (Australian Shipbuilding Company Pty Ltd), formerly the Australian Submarine Corporation - an Australian government business enterprise involved with Australian naval shipbuilding. It is notable for the construction and maintenance of the Collins-class submarine fleet operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the construction of three Hobart-class destroyers for the RAN with the first delivered in mid-2017.
Australia will acquire eight SSN-AUKUS (nuclear powered) class boats that will be built at Osborne. The building of the first boat is to begin by the end of the 2030s with the boat delivered in the early 2040s.
Thousands of skilled jobs will be created over the coming decades, making North Haven and surrounds prime real estate.
North Haven is also bounded to the north by Outer Harbour - the entrance to the Port River and a port for cruise liners, such as the QM2.
