A 100% complete walkthrough for the original "The Legend of Zelda" on the NES. This video shows the locations for all Heart Pieces, items, upgrades and even every room in all dungeons.

This took me a while to make, as a lot of planning was required.

My dad worked 80 hours a week running his own business and used his hard earned money to buy me silly things like the NES and Zelda. He passed away on 9-28-20 from a massive stroke after spending decades exposed to second hand smoke in his business. I'm sitting here watching this only now fully realizing how many sacrifices my dad made for me to be comfortable and happy. RIP dad :(

Imagine trying to beat this game without the help of the internet 😮
  • This game was long and difficult, but you have to consider those factors from a contemporary perspective. No internet walkthroughs and no multiplatform content overload like we have now. This was a game that even people like me with no attention span could rock for hours and hours. You didn't buy this premium game and get bored after a few hours. You bought it, and committed to beating it. The sense of adventure, the big maps, and the Zelda immersion put the hooks into you. It was just awesome.

It amazes me how Nintendo is able to make 20 games in the same series while keeping each one unique and different. Probably the best game series in the world!

Dunno about y'all but I grew up poor as shit. I was lucky enough to have a Nintendo but we couldn't afford a bunch of games for it. Renting this from the Blockbuster for a few days was seriously the highlight of my childhood the few times my mom could swing it. Love watching these playthroughs now that I'm grown up and well enough off to have a PS4 and a ton of games that I don't play so I can watch random people on the Internet play 34 year old games I couldn't afford as a kid instead.

Playing as a child, I remember trying to burn every tree and bombing any where that held potential...

The amount of time I spent playing this game and talking on a landline phone with my friend as we shared strategies together was uncountable, yet priceless! This game has always been and always will be my all time top favorite!

The 80's were EPIC times. The music of this game takes me right back to being a kid again. No mortgage, car payment, wife, or kids...just pure wonder and magic of that age.

My father played this game when he was a kid. He smiles when he sees me watch this

It was my favourite game, took me years to finish it. I used to draw maps for every dungeon. so nostalgic.

I wasn't even alive when this game came out but reading about all the fond memories people have of it is heartwarming

  • God, I remember the day I borrowed this game from a kid in school and brought the gold cartridge home and inserted it into my Nintendo. Of course the rule was I had to do homework first, then video games. Lets just say I pretended the whole hour that I did homework all the while eyeing the open lid to my Nintendo and seeing the strip of gold cartridge. Best memory!

Still a legendary game, I can’t imagine how amazing this was in 1986 cause it’s still amazing in 2019

Great walkthrough! I’m here because I had this game back in 87’ and I never passed it. I fought Gannon, but never beat him. At age 41, it irked me. I got the NES mini cause I saw that it had Zelda. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to finally pass this game. I started it yesterday. I’ve been reading a lot of the comments, you all are right there with me 😅, reminiscing of the 80’s. Best decade ever. A salute to all the 80’s kids 🫡.

This was THE game! I loved this game so much. It was the first game I ever finished. My siblings and I watched and helped each other locate the treasures. Everyone in our neighborhood came over and we all searched. Over the years we have all gone our separate ways, my best friend and big brother have passed away. But oh how this brings me back. The hidden treasure are the core memories this game evokes. I can feel the love and genuine happiness. Thanks you for posting this. ❤❤❤

The hairs on my body rises when I hear the music and I remember the feeling of playing this the first time when I was 8. I´m 40 now but it gives me the same joy to this day! According to me, one of the best games ever made!
  • @jeffhietala2602
The original Zelda was a very long and difficult game to beat. I never beat it. I think this was one of the most challenging NES games ever.
  • @flirtwd
I spent 10 hours a day for two weeks until I beat Gannon. What a game!
  • I remember my grandpa and I playing this back in 1989, I was 8 years old, so many good memories. My grandma beat this game like 3 or 4 times. Miss you pops. He passed in 2010 rip
