So when we talk scale, we're talking big stale. we are building a factory in Nevada, that is going to get ramped in 2026 with customer deliveries and ramping to an eventual Target capacity of 50,000 units a year
So, that magic number, 50,000, rings a bell, right? It's exactly what Elon Musk boldly predicted back in October 2022. Elon once assured investors that Tesla would produce 50,000 Class 8 battery-electric trucks by 2024, and right now, it seems like they're on track, just a bit behind schedule. It's totally understandable due to some difficulties related to factory expansion in Nevada and data collection, which are two extremely important factors before the ramp-up can begin. The path to commercialization for the Semi is not easy at all. It will be a full decade from its announcement in 2016 to serial production in 2026. Absolutely! Better late than never, right? It's great to see that Tesla is still committed to this market segment and I’m excited to see how the whole trucking landscape will change in the next 5 years.

What Priestley shared, along with real-world data from test fleet PepsiCo and third-party testing from the non-profit North American Council for Freight Efficiency, should get everyone hyped up again. With a whopping 3.5 million miles of Semi data, Priestley confidently stated that with the Semi, fleets “can swap one for one in operations,” He pointed to NACFE’s Run on Less - Electric Depot event last Fall, where a PepsiCo-operated Tesla Semi managed to travel 410 miles on one charge, and 1,076 miles over a full day. And guess what's the secret sauce behind this impressive feat? It's all about the Semi's lightning-fast charging capabilities, as Dan highlighted.
