“Humans. Your griefs, your pains, fix you to moments in the past long gone . You’re like butterflies with your wings pinned”. That hit hard. I had a good cry.
  • "Even gods have favourites." I wasn't highly impressed with the season as a whole, but this scene brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful send-off for an old friend.

A tremendous scene by two Shakespearian-trained actors who respect each other's talents.
  • Q was the trickster almost father figure Picard never had. The genuine love in the line and delivery, exactly how a loving parent would look at their child and be like, "You matter to me". Damn the line still brings tears to my eyes. Even after everything Q has always nurtured, guided and cared for Picard and sure they might have squabbled but in the end Q I think always loved Picard and took him under his wing a long time ago.

"I am dying alone...and I do not want that for you." Thirty years of everything from archaic courtrooms to Sherwood Forrest to galactic time anomalies culminates in an omnipotent being's final wish for possibly the one human being he considers a friend.
  • I swear to god, Delancy's exceptional acting is what held this nonsensical mess of a season together. Brilliant work!

I have always loved the poetic quality Q's dialog and his use of vocabulary. It shines here greatly and I always wished we could have seen more of John De Lance. "Forever the boy, who with an errant turn of a skeleton key broke the universe in his own heart, no more."
  • The beauty of this scene continues to astound. The mere mortals will risk their finite little lives to save the universe, but for an omnipotent immortal, one life is enough.

Picard suffered from erratic writing but THIS.. this is good writing backed by a stellar delivery.

I really don't care what anyone else says. I love Star Trek: Picard. All 3 seasons. And this was by far the best moment of Season 2.

I like this. Q always spoke to Picard about matters of the universe. In the end, his final act was a lesson for Picard and Picard alone.

This is so good not just for the show, but even just on a personal level. This scene says so much about the baggage of the past all of us carry and how much it can run us down and destroy us..
  • Picard: "Why me?" Q: "Because Sisko kept punching me in the face."

"You matter to me... Even Gods have favorites, and you have always been one of mine." Who wouldn't want to hear those words from a being like Q?

Always loved John de Lancie's Q, but never expected the character to give such strong Mr. Rogers vibes while being entirely within character.
  • @civ187
This ending was amazing. "Even Gods have favorites Jean-Luc, and you've always been one of mine"
  • God I love that “Why?” “Finish the sentence” “Why me?”

Remember watching these two duel it out for the fate of humanity when I was younger, seeing them come full circle and watching their relationship now, it's just a joy.

0:05 - And that's what makes Picard special to Q... rather than reject what he is - the mistakes that he's made - the pain he's endured... he accepts it. He's able to hold everything he was - all at once - and let it go. Able to move beyond the past - beyond time - and to be more.
