Guess they got a Presidential pardon without even getting arrested 🤷‍♂️
  • @malahammer
Best visuals! I can only guess how long it takes you. Well done.
  • @oldmandrake
And I just look up and say, "Cool, a helicopter!" There is so, so much more going on, and critical that conflicts are avoided. Thanks again!

The thing is, DC Metro Police have a desk in the NCRCC alongside the USSS and every other agency in the NCR. They can literally walk across the ops floor and deconflict in real time. It really shouldn't have been an issue as DV movements happen regularly along side federal, state, local, and DoD aviation operations in the SFRA/FRZ.

Great production! And the explanation beforehand makes it easier to understand. 👍🏻

Funny to me how some things matter a lot in a situation, then with with a slightly different situation it doesn’t matter at all. I fly in the area that the top right corner of the area shown all the time. I’m just a civilian, instructing students in light planes. Been on the same frequency as one of the presidential transport planes, so I know it was using the AF1 calling, so president was on board. They crossed directly over me with 1,000’ vertical separation, just the same as any two aircraft do all the time. Yet here, a law enforcement aircraft on an actual mission couldn’t get within several miles of VM1. Makes a whole lot of sense, doesn’t it?

by protocol they were "Clearing the Airspace" in one Three - Anticipating MARINE ONES flight path down the River through zone three .. meaning that the Helos potentially could have been MUCH closer together in a few minutes ... and in their defense ... police helicopter pursuits are VERY Dynamic and goe directions dictated by the Robbers. They also REQUIRE the Guardian Crew to be laser focused on the robbery pursuit down below..... They don't want Marine ONE to be anywhere near where a police helicopter might have to maneuver rapidly in any direction. It just wasn't safe ... and it was the right call !! Yes I am a military Pilot and Law Enforcement. Guardian didn't like the answer but the also knew it was the right call. PS: Helicopter Support is OPTIONAL and the vast majority of PURSUITS both Foot and Car happen without the luxury of an air unit. Just the facts.

GREAT editing, thanks for the time invested in this one! !! !!!

While HMX-1 is based at JBAB. it picks the President up on the White House South Lawn. He doesn't go to the base to get on the helicopter.

Ive watched quite a few of these air traffic control video and wow this visual was awesome!!! keep up the great work.
  • That was interesting. I flew a Canadian H3 up the Potomac in the 80’s, didn’t talk to a soul. Gave myself and my crew a tour right up to the Watergate Hotel and then skeedadled back to sea to our tin can which was bobbing around on the Atlantic. I guess times have changed since then.

I love your channel! The explanations, visuals, and voiceover are perfect!

In Los Angeles, a POTUS visit makes a worse an already logistical nightmare of everyone's day. I usually cancel or call in sick if working anywhere near the area. Its not worth the extra 8 hrs of commute slower than walking pace.

The Marine Helo squadron is HMX-1. The short story is Helicopter, Marine, Experimental, Helo flight test. Presidential support is only one of their duties.

Keep up the high quality content! Very informative, never knew DC airspace was this complicated
