Venezuela’s leader, Nicolás Maduro, was declared the winner of the country’s presidential election on July 28, but the result is being challenged.

“Venezuelans and the entire world know what happened,” said Edmundo González, his main political candidate.

While the opposition has vowed to defend their votes, he urged his supporters to remain calm and called on the government to avoid stoking conflict.
