Feeling unsafe in your own house is not something any of us wants. If you don't have a good surveillance system, some foil over the front door handle can help you out. If someone tries to sneak into your house while you're sleeping, you'll notice the foil getting slightly ripped the next morning. A mug on the doorknob can be just as efficient! Find out about more simple and cheap but effective ways to protect your property and your data!

Putting foil around your doorknobs will help identify you as a lunatic, which will definitely deter intruders.
  • Get a little rat dog. They will bark themselves into a seizure if a mouse farts.
  • A very large man attempted to break in my apartment via my bedroom window a few nights ago. Apparently a continuous taze to the chest is a deterrent as well. By the time he recovered The police were here to assist him in exiting the property. 🤷‍♀️

I purposely let the lawn grow wild, untrimmed: The tall grass provides excellent cover for the land mines and bear traps.

My neighbors won’t even talk to me and you expect them to do what again?
  • @mindibatlle91
I went to a seminar that included a talk from a former burglar. He advised that if there is a deterrent he will most likely move on to an easier house, however, he did say that if there is something in your house that he wants, he WILL get in no matter what.

Don’t make your neighbor do more than necessary. Put your mail on hold. You can pick it up when you get home or have it delivered on a specified day.

My security system is called a Smith and Wesson...

Build a moat around your house and a 12-foot high external wall (with glass shards at the top or outwardly curved bars). Place iron grills over all windows and attach an additional iron door on all entrances. Ensure the roof is reinforced. Etc
  • I like the mug idea. I used to leave tall glasses and bottles on top of my sash windows, so they would crash if someone tried to open the window. Now I have alarms. But I would use the mug if I were in a hotel or some where.

Beat scam ever was when a home security service came by to sell me a security system and asked if they could come in and see my back door to see if it’s vulnerable to break ins. Just as I let them in I knew I made a mistake. I told my cousin who was with me that in three days someone would try to break in and sure enough! My neighbors on each side were harassed at 3 am and saw them come by my house and tried to break in. Three days later. The security people WERE the threat.
  • Plant cactus outside or planters of cacti around your windows.

When my sister & I were kids, my parents left at about 10 or 11 at night to run to the gas station real quick & told us to lock the doors. Right after the pulled out, someone starts banging on the door & we go to it & look out the peep hole & it was a man & woman we didn't recognize. We said "hello" thru the door & they replied "Hello. We're from the gas & electric company. We need to check for faulty wiring inside your home. Open the door!" & we said "our parents aren't home" & they said "that's okay. Just open the door & we'll wait until they arrive" & then the neighbor came out & let his big dog out & they literally took off running. I STILL wonder what it was they wanted, since I doubt they were with the electric company that late at night.

that's right, box up your electronics (a convenience for thieves to easily remove it from your property)
  • A small piece of clear tape would be less obvious than aluminum foil and should yield the same result
  • This video is useful not only to home owners and renters but also to the criminals as well 🤷🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️
  • I have my heavy keys hanging on the door-handle every single night, and a metallic tray under...you can imagine the noise it makes if the keys fall down😁
  • Have to add Lock your bedroom doors at night to avoid a unpleasant surprise.

9 out of 10 times it’s someone you know. I had a neighbor make keys to my house and come in and took things. I got two German Shepard dogs and installed a burglar alarm with cameras.😊
