    I didn't know these guys existed until I saw one. I was on a backpack camping trip in a Colorado wilderness area, filling my water bottle from a small creek, when I see a "mouse" (it was a shrew, but mouse was my first impression) swimming by underwater. It took a bit of internet research after I got home to figure out what I had seen.

  • So pretty much the mammal equivalent of a hummingbird. Tiny, fast, and needs to eat constantly just to stay alive.
