Here is another raw diamond of Vinnie’s performances: A drum clinic in Frankfurt, Germany, October 30th, 1993. I recorded it myself and I was able to ask him a question (1:06:50)!
Once more, it shows Vinnie’s great skills in playing, explaining and talking.
It also shows how angry he can get when people are talking during his performance.

I hope you’ll enjoy

I'm only now understanding what a giant Dom Famularo was. When a guy like Vinnie can go to him for help of some kind.. and I bet he was the same with every single student. Amazing

Hello there, I was there too !! Thanx for this post !! The thing was : there was a blind boy in the audience (right next to me) with his mother and the boy was constantly commenting to her about what he could hear . “Now he plays on the HH…“ and so on. THIS is what made him upset. Vinnie could not understand WHAT was said and the Boy could not SEE that Vinnie got a problem (with him) VERY ambarressing Situation. I really love Vinnie , but I have to say : Back in those days, I exprerienced a whole lot of „explosive“ Situations with him like that during clinics . That´s how he could be back in the past….And yes , there were some outrageous persons in the audience too sometimes !! I remeber one person yelling in Amsterdam „Hey Vinnie, what about your left Hand? It sucks ….(What???)

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's precious for those of us who can't go back in time to hear Vinnie's awesome clinic solo playing, and his articulate descriptions of what he does and how he does it. I've not heard Vinnie get angry before, and I think the guy must have had a crazy schedule when he was doing clinic tours and was probably extremely tired as well. All things considered I think he was very contained.
  • I was so excited to find this clinic. Thank you so much for posting! Unfortunate though, we all came to hear Vinnie, not some narcissistic jackass in the audience chatter the WHOLE time. I was quite annoyed, so I can’t imagine what it must have been like to be in the room, let alone be Vinnie and endure the tremendous disrespect.

I never considered the “Tony Williams” moments in Vinnie’s playing. Just so insane - musical and expressive with chops from the almighty to play what he’s feeling.
