After 4 years, I went back to visit the PYGMIES - who are genetically the shortest group of people in the world. The last time I met the pygmies, I was alone in the Central African Republic, and this time, I went deep into the Democratic Republic of Congo (4,000 miles away) with Deanna and our local friend, Obed.

The journey was not easy, as we battled flat tires, massive thunderstorms, and my camera nearly getting stolen from someone at a street market in Bukavu (the 3rd biggest city in the DR Congo). But the payoff in the end was pure magic - the pygmies are so welcoming and fun! They literally danced around the fire while beating the drums from the moment we met until we left (15 hours straight).

This is one of those stories and experiences that (when it's all said and done), I will be remembered for. It is a pleasure to share this story with you, that my team and I spent 5 weeks editing, and I hope that you enjoy! And don't forget to subscribe for more stories like this one! bit.ly/2hyQnZ1

Drew is one of the few creators really pushing the boundaries of how far he will go to find stories, always inspired by his courage and perseverance, this story is insane!

Hey guys! This video took 3 months to create, from filming on the ground to post-production (with my team of 5 amazing editors)! I love this kind of storytelling, and I am shaping my channel to do more long-form documentaries about the journey to meet indigenous tribes around the world. I'd love for your honest feedback -- what you liked, didn't like, or want to see more of - so we can continue to improve and tell awesome stories! Thank you and really appreciate the support!
  • I tested my DNA and I am related to the Biaka pygmies. So cool seeing where I got my short stature and fun spirit from! Awesome vid Drew and Dianna! 🎉
  • Am from Zambia. And we are the most welcoming and friendly person you can visit in Africa.

I’m from Gabon 🇬🇦, for those who know, pygmées are among the kindest, most sharing and welcoming community ever. In Gabon they welcomed the bantous, taught them knowledge like spiritually (bwiti/ iboga), herbal medicine, and how to survive in the forest. But unfortunately, as they are a pacific community, we started to chase them from their natural habitat, force them to integrate in our society, and literally use them as we employ them for big hard work to pay them in chicken change. Thank you, for this video. It’s important to show to the world what they are going through, as they don’t ask much, just peacefully live in the forest where we found them.

I’m currently in Rwanda, have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to get into DRC. The visa process is so complicated. Then I saw this video and I’ve already contacted Obed! Let’s hope he comes through. The stars might align in the final few days.
  • As a person who's spent most his life in Nj, Usa ..I can't even begin to express my gratitude for Drew and his entire crew for continuously opening my eyes to the immeasurable amounts of diversity, the multitude of beautiful people, and for the abundance of culture around the world. This channel has changed my perspective forever on how much bigger life is than just you and i... Thank you Drew 🙏

It's crazy kicking them out of their forest for conservation, even though I bet you everything I own these people take better care of their forest, their land, literally their entire way of life for thousands of years than anyone else
  • @mr.gorbachev1985
I like drew because he shows real africa unlike the media who describes it as a depressed impoverished society where every person is very undefed and sad
  • @goddyblaq

This tribe is really nice. The respect they show to visitors is super kind. They were blessed to have you Drew!

Drew Binsky I travelled in this area 45 years ago. No pygmies lived in accessible villages. I met two Forrest dwellers, man and woman, on a track in the jungle. They were Way under 5’. No western clothes. Quiver with arrows on the man’s back. We just checked each other out for 5 mins before they disappeared back into the jungle.

Drew and Diana..I've just found your channel and am completely awed by your humanity, stamina and grace under stressful situations...thank you for sharing the diversity, love and adventure with those of us who, forever reason, are not able to do what you are doing . I can honestly say I love both of you.
  • @andyleskowitz1528
This makes me so happy! We did the exact same route you just traveled back in 2016. Bukavu, Kahuzi-Biega with the gorillas and then we visited the Pygmy village as well. It was one of the most amazing and rewarding trips we've ever taken. So cool to see you there!
  • @bertinvick
As a congolese I assure you despite the chaos and poverty, Congolese we are the most fun people in the central and East African region. Dance, music, fun it's all ours. we weren't blessed with peace and clean government but fun, yeah it's our DNA the fun. Always happy seeing Drew in Congo.
  • @dubaiboy101
💥CAN WE ALL APPRECIATE💥 How Drew's wife composed herself even though it looks like she was having an internal anxiety/panic attack, bro the way she locked that window when she was in the van but kept her composure and smiled 😂
  • @Pixku_
I really love your videos because as much as there's nothing wrong with tourist spots, I always found that I enjoyed the cultural experience more and seeing how people lived and their lifestyle. And I feel like you really dwleve into that and connect with the people around you and your environment. Love your video keep it up! Love from Kyrgyzstan.🇰🇬😁
