This guy is a great teacher. He trained her mom to be a GM in just one lesson.

When introducing new players to the game, the challenge is not to explain how to play chess, that's easy. The challenge is to get them excited to play chess, and this guy has mastered that.
  • That guy’s special. He delighted in being a teacher, then delighted in getting taught.

When this man said, "oh my goodness! I want to play you one more!". I cried. I'm a 43 year old guy, and the complete lack of ego or anger in this guy is what I need to strive for in life. I would have been upset if I were him. Goes to show how much I have to learn. I would have felt like they were making fun of me, or getting a laugh at my expense. Which isn't the worst thing I guess, but I'm touchy about things like that. Of course Pia is the most docile, calm person I've ever seen play chess. Great video, really. I learned a lot.

Not gonna lie. He has the power to make a WHOLE lot of people play chess. He makes an old game look super cool

He makes chess sound really exciting. Like he's telling a war story
  • @THEMEATDOCTOR
Him needing to play her again, knowing he would get wrecked, warmed my heart.

“i want to play one more, i want to play one more mom” hes like a kid, so wholesome.

I assumed from the title that this guy was gonna be arrogant and condescending. But after watching the video, this guy's probably the best teacher I've ever seen in my entire life. Such a passionate soul, we need more people like this in the world.

He is the grandmaster of chess storytelling. And I love his reaction at the end. He could have been offended for being tricked, but instead he was excited to play with her.
  • @jimhuber
At first I thought he was talking down to her, but it became clearer that he just loves the game and wanted to share his love for it, and teach her. He was encouraging and so happy for her when she beat him. As a newbie to the game, myself, I enjoyed his lesson immensely.

"Can we play one more, please?" when he asked this I welled up. His passion for play, chess, communication is such a beautiful gift.

"I WANNA PLAY YOU ONE MORE" This guy is a child in an old man's body in the best possible way. I can only hope to have his level of passion about literally anything at some point. What an awesome dude
  • @GlennHanna8
Thanks for letting him talk. He thought he was talking to you but he was talking to me and other new players watching
  • @conripolar
Oh my god, there’s nothing I love seeing more than genuine passion for something. This guy is so passionate about chess. His reaction at the end made me tear up. It’s so beautiful. I hope the two of you had fun on the next match! That is awesome and I’m really happy he got to meet a grandmaster like this!

The humility the man has at the end is simply beautiful. I like that guy.

    - teaches with respect and enthusiasm - calls Anna's mother "mom" - calls the knight horse What more could you want
  • @gs.558
This guy has more passion than any grand master in the world. He is living the battlefield
  • @ERIN478
This is beautiful. I LOVE the way this guy makes the game come alive. He's not patronizing; he's got such an engaging, enthusiastic, generous spirit.
