Our shop tow pig's stock turbo finally got the dreaded P003A diag code. Nick breaks down what that code means, what the actually turbo looked like on the inside when broken down, how we test if turbo vanes are fully sweeping, and the turbo we decided to use as a replacement!

After you check out the video, take a look at our Stealth Turbo Mach 1 for the 2011-2016 LML right here: duramaxtuner.com/vehicle-type/stealth-64-vvt-lml-1…

Always want Duramax videos!! How about some LLY stuff!
  • Great job Nick and the guys. My LBZ is at 283,000 on original turbo. I like how your tunes aren’t “smoky”. When mine fails I’m going to go with one of yours.

Great look inside the turbo. Could a cts3 show a good sweep but not in fact getting it? I suspect my unison ring of being stuck but shows 0-100 sweeps.
  • Does that LML still have the stock CP4? If it does, have you ran an aftermarket lift pump? I have a 2015 LML with 300,000 miles on it. Never had a lift pump stock seat before still runs great.

Curious. Have you switched out the CP4? I have a 2015 LML with 185,000 miles. I run Stanadyne Lubricity improver with every tank of fuel as I understand the problem with the CP4 to be lack of lubrication from the 2007 fuel mandate. I do pull a fifth wheel and I've pulled gooseneck trailers across the country. Would something like the FASS lift pump help?
