On his first day in office, President Biden halted construction on the US-Mexico border wall- a project launched under the Trump administration, and one that remains one of the most expensive and controversial border projects in US history. Today, it remains incomplete. But for many living along the wall, the issue of how to best regulate the border is not clear cut.

Vice News traveled to the US-Mexico border to talk to people from El Paso, Texas to Naco, Arizona to find out what impact the wall and years of failed policies have had for people along the border.

The reason there’s no border between Canada and the US is because most Canadians are better off staying here than going to the US. That isn’t the case for Mexico though.
  • “They don’t treat Canada like this” Me: *imagines abunch of Canadians trying to get across Niagara Falls like in a looney tunes sketch

it was also not the most expensive border wall the US has paid for. We put billions into border walls for jordan, egypt, and many other nations to protect their borders. So why isn't that same logic good for protecting our own borders?
  • I love how we all call it a wall when it looks much more like a fence 😅.
  • @ImNotHim-g4d
Is there something wrong with defending our Southern border? I support the construction of the wall.

Can someone explain to me why people are upset about the wall? The US had problems with illegal immigrants from Mexico, so it ultimately solves this. Are people encouraging trespassing border? You can enter the country, just do it legally.
  • No one is going to mention the real biological issue!! All the dip spit up on that ranchers jacket!

It's amazing how the debate has shifted from anti and pro-immigration to anti and pro illegal immigration. Just because you're pro immigration doesn't mean you should let everyone enter unregulated...

There's only 1 thing that's more of a waste than the border wall..... Is a half finished wall smh

I didn’t see it mentioned in this video but there’s a huge biological issue happening at the border with animal migration routes. This new build has changed everything. I grew up in Tucson and I always remember there being a wall just not to this extent. Food for thought!

What did the Mexican people think about the border wall? "We'll get over it"
  • How evil do you have to be to destroy someone's source of water in the middle of a desert? How can you deprive anybody that chance at salvation and sleep at night?

Ironically, the only state with a nearly complete wall is California's border wall.
  • @VEE3RDEYE
They literally use tunnels to cross lmao

Keep them out, we have enough people in this coutry as it is, We have our social issues that don't seem to be getting better, our contry is in a finacial bind because of stupid polititions, covid ect. Why can't they try to make thier own country better... or maybe they need to try harder. Seems to me these people want to, like alot of others try to piggy back off our seccess, it's just easier to abandon their own country and come here and take up space, Enough already.
