I used to live California and Jacksonville, Florida In 5th Street downtown Jax. I also applied for US Marines but decided not to continue. I live in Boston for 26 years. Good Luck with your Navy Career, i recommend to have a full service until you retire from the Navy. You will have tons of Benefits, Savings and tons of Free stuff especially housing.
