🎀 Lyrics: Don't Stop Believin' - Journey

Just a small-town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere

Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night

Streetlights people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night

Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice just one more time

Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on, and on, and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night

Streetlights people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on
Streetlight people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight people

I am a Gold Star Mom - I lost my 23-year-old son in the military 4.5 years ago. One night, as I was driving my children somewhere, this song came on the radio. The next thing I knew, my son, who wasn't more than 14, started belting out this song from the back seat. My daughter, who is 2 years older, joined in. I didn't realize they knew the words to this song, let alone ever heard of Journey. When it's playing on the radio, it instantly brings me back to that night. Took 4 years to finally listen to this song in its entirety, and it brings me to my knees hysterically crying at a memory that I will cherish till the day I'm with my baby again. When I wrote this about 5 months ago, I was just sharing a beloved memory of my son. I never ever expected or thought about replies. With that said, I'm astonished as to the amount of likes and the numerous comments of support from everyone. It is truly a blessing to read, and I am touched by everyone's response! It is giving me a sliver of hope and without knowing it prior to writing, keeping his memory alive. Thank to all who are extremely supportive and don't realize how much this means to me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. 1/2024. Once again, I want to thank everyone who has left numerous beautifully written comments of support and love about my son. I try to respond to each and every comment as it is shockingly heartwarming that so many people take the time to leave one and that speaks volumes, to me anyway. They truly touch my heart in a way I never expected nor anticipated. I won't lie and sugar coat anything. I have bad days as well as "ok" days. He's all I had so life is quite painfully lonely. He would have been 29 on Dec 23rd so the holidays are fiercely painful I spend them alone. This year I was in the hospital with double pneumonia, a double whammy to deal with at an already difficult time. I do read each and every comment though may not always be able to respond but they give hope that my son did not pass away in vain and is and will be remembered for the fun loving gentle soul he was. Heartfelt gratitude and many numerous thank you to each and every one of you who have read my comment but most of all for taking a moment out of your schedule to stop and write with words of encouragement and support. XOXO

Well done Richard in AGT. A well deserved golden buzzerπŸ™Œ this song reminds me of the late 90's at a Irish club in Wellington. The good old unforgettable daysπŸ™Œ

I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
  • From the beats alone, I KNOW that this is from the '80s! Truly, the BEST era for timeless CLASSIC music!
  • When i was about 4 years old i sang this song at my cousins wedding. My cousin died 3 years ago. Everytime i hear this song i think of herπŸ₯°

Journey is a band full of musicians who've had their dreams come true. On "Don't Stop Believin'" The story of the song itself begins with Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain. In the late 1970s, he was a struggling rocker who was ready to quit SoCal and move back to Chicago. Cain says everything had been going wrong: He and his girlfriend had split up, and he'd had to pay a costly vet bill to save his dog after it was hit by a car. "I called my father for some money," he says. "I said, 'Dad, I'm out of cash here. ... Should I come home? Is this thing just not, you know, panning out?' And he told me, 'We've always had a vision, son. Don't stop believing.' I had a lyric book next to me, and I wrote it down." Things started looking up for the musician after that. Cain found himself in a band opening up for mega-act Journey. Then, Journey itself poached him. Then there is Arnel Pineda, the current lead singer from the Philippines. His mother died from heart disease he was 13 years and the debt from her illness left him homeless. He eventually joined a cover band whose youtube videos were noticed by Neal Schon of Journey. At the time, they were looking for a new lead singer. Within that same year and after an audition he became Journey's new and current lead singer.

First heard this when I was a kid, as I recall maybe 4 years old so this song hits me a lot. My mom would always listen to good old bands like Journey. She passed away 2 years ago due to lung cancer, this was one of her favorite songs and I haven't heard it in a long time. It took me back to the good old days and it felt like she was in the room listening to it with me. She's an angel & is dearly missed.
